Obsidian missed Fallout: New Vegas Metacritic bonus by one point

Mar 16th 2012 2:41PM (Joystiq)
@OnToGloryReturns

This is related to an issue endemic of the industry, in that the guys running the studios know that people are desperate for a job and know they can get them to sign into contracts like this. Their choice was either to sign the contract, or not get the job they really want.

Taking advantage of entry-level workers desperation for a job is not a good thing.

@Tiradyn

What the hell difference does it make? They didn't get a bonus based on completely arbitrary requirements that were honestly beyond their control. Fun fact: contractors are usually people in QA, and they can't do a whole lot when the devs refuse to fix the bugs!

Try not being an asshole and missing the point.

This is an absolutely-reprehensible basis to judge whether your employees deserve their money or not.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is free to play this weekend

@doublerainbow

World of Warcraft is dropping off subscribers because the game is 7 frigging years old and because Blizzard dropped the ball in terms of delivering much of any follow-up content to Cataclysm, not because of "catering to casuals" or some nonsense. Get over yourself.

It's amazing how people get so histrionic about MMOs having free trials. Having one pop up fairly early on in its' lifetime is one of the reasons World of Warcraft grew as quickly as it did!

MMO players have the worst confirmation bias.

Blizzard cuts 600 employees, most not in game development

Feb 29th 2012 1:42PM (Joystiq)
There's a very likely change that most, if not all of those, were contractors and their contracts expired. There's also an extremely likely chance that all the commenters will blow this completely out of proportion for more Blizzard doom-and-glooming.

Binding of Isaac not coming to 3DS eShop

My hopes and dreams of the 3DS being a Steam indie game port system are now crushed.

You're missing out on free money, Nintendo!

Buy two Vita games, get one free at Amazon

Is it sad that I took advantage of this deal for Lumines, Rayman, and UMvC3...and am still not sure when I'll actually buy a Vita?

Oh well, I don't need a new console to experience the new game smell!

Report: 'Black Ops 2' listing spotted on Amazon France

I'm gonna bet that they don't actually decide on making these games themselves. They wait until the rumor pops up of what they're apparently making next, and then start making it!

This is the main reason I want a Vita.
