Thank you for the link. I found it very interesting and read it start to finish. It would seem that Bungie is getting a good deal by moving. Hopefully the new location will inspire them to make even better games (if that's possible). And boy...would I like to work there.... :-p
@Massive Poop I was in the same boat when looking for a new PC. I thought about Mac...but weighed the pros and cons very carefully. While I believe a 13" Mac is perfect for portability and aesthetics I realized that I'll never be able to run any high end game with the GPU they throw in it. Software compatibility and price were also factors. Considering the new HP Envy is coming out for a buck less than a grand, I'm not sure I could justify a Mac. Its also disappointing that Mac developed/ported games more often than not run less well than Windows.
I find it amusing that last years Macbook Pro with Nvidia 9400 runs Portal/Source engine just as well as my dual core Ion netbook (Aspire Revo 3600 on low settings).
Zune Pass service (perhaps included in the month to month bill) is an excellent idea. I think these phones have the potential to be much more than simply feature phones.
The phone/camera capabilities already put Kin 1 & 2 way beyond that of most (all?) feature phones. Zune music w/ subscription is another selling point. Facebook/twitter all in ensures success imho. Perhaps the demographic is different to that of the average engadget user but maybe thats a good thing for once.
Um...I think you need to think before you type. I didn't know a homosexual or a woman (or both) were credited for creating Kin.
Kin 1 doesn't look anything special but Kin 2 almost looks like your precious Iphone besides having an oval button on the bottom and being a slider. What makes it look quote and quote "homosexual." I want to know, really.
I don't think the phone was made for the engadget audience. Think outside the box pup.
You miss the whole point of the feature phone...You don't have to pay $30 for data.
This phone is made for teenagers. I assume most parents either don't care or want to pay for data, otherwise everyone would have a smart phone. Is it that hard to understand?
Iphone, Android and Windows Phone 7 are all SMART phones. Not everyone wants or needs them. For a glorified feature phone with data sync for phones, Zune media player capabilities and twitter/facebook built in, what teen wouldn't want this? They can use twitter, and facebook in class while taking embarrassing photos of their classmates. Get it? Good.
The prototype in use had a resistive screen however the final version will be capacitive touch.
From Stuff:
"The touch tech on the prototype we tried was resistive, making for slightly sluggish responsiveness, but ICD promises a capacitive alternative for launch."
My only concern is branding and manufacturing. ICD is a design company whom will more than likely sell Gemini to the highest bidder. The parts and quality are very much dependent on the buyer of the Gemini design. Also, carrier support hasn't been announced. Makes me wonder if the tablet will make it by August. One can only hope :-/

Apr 12th 2010 1:40PM (Engadget)Oh come on, Kin 2 doesn't look that bad.
8 GB of storage and 8 MB HD camera is pretty good for a feature phone. Not to mention both have access to Zune Marketplace.
I think people are overly pessimistic. I'm not a fan of Monday's either but still...
ICD's Tegra 2-toting Gemini tested, briefly enjoyed
