Can rap find a place in music games?

Nov 28th 2007 1:36PM (Joystiq)
Chrono, you're very right about that one. Although I'd say "popular" doesn't have to equate to "suck" automatically. But unfortunately in the current case of hip hop, it applies.

Can rap find a place in music games?

Apparently most people here don't know anything about real hip hop, with the exception of Vegata (sp) or FOXHOUND. Based off of the examples I'm seeing most people cite as their rationale, the lot of you are using radio hip hop and mainstream bad music as your examples. This is the equivalent of me saying that rocks sucks, and then citing Fallout Boy, Good Charlotte, and Sum 41 as my examples. Based on the shit you people listen to (and hence the shit from which you draw your shortsighted conclusions), I can see why you'd think hip hop takes "no skill". God, if I based all my judgements on any musical genre on what I saw on MTV, I'd be like every other uncultured idiot out there.

If any of you had heard any REAL lyrical skill from artists such as KRS-ONE, MF DOOM, Guru, Jeru, Apathy, etc, you'd most likely have to shut up. I'd love to see any of you write and deliver lyrics as well as any of those MC's. And no one here even mentioned the Battle MC. if ANY of you have tried freestyling or battling, then you know you have to think ten steps ahead on the fly and improv a whole set of lyrics. think it's easy? go try.

Red Ring of Death condolence cards

"RRoD is all they got anyway."

.....that's like saying the only thing that's missing in that car you're looking to buy, is the engine.

To put it another way, would you buy a car knowing it's going to most likely fail within a year? And for the warranty, they just replace the transmission with another refurbished transimission that has chipped gears, so you have to go in again? How much abuse do you like to take?

Too bad I bought my 360 before this problem became well known. had I known what I know now, I would have waited until MS worked out the issue.

Oh, and that warranty you're talking about? people are getting replacement units that....uh.....Red RING AGAIN.

I'm just waiting for the day for my box to get the Ring. It's only a matter of time. and It'll probably happen during Mass Effect.

Red Ring of Death condolence cards

until MS stops sending crappy refurbished replacement units that also red ring, this will continue to be an issue. my co-worker is on his 3rd box, and one of my friends is on his fourth.

If i was only hearing anecdotes about receiving faulty replacements on t3h interwebs, I'd take it with a grain of salt. But once I start hearing it from people i know who don't even come close to internet forums, then I know something's up.

Metal Gear Solid 4 has over 200 developers

Oct 16th 2007 1:38PM (Joystiq)
When people refer to "developers", they're referring to programmers, artists, producers, designers, et. al.

200 programmers would be unheard of for one project. Not to mention that there aren't studios that can pay for 200 engineers on one team, as engineers typically earn more than other disciplines. EA had over 150 developers on Godfather, but keep in mind a lot of those guys were contract artists and other types of developers. and that game still ended up being poop.

Halo 3 not HD: runs at 640p, pixel counters claim

Sep 28th 2007 11:59AM (Joystiq)
Oh, look at all the halo whores suddenly getting emo about how graphics arent a big deal. As aforementioned - hypocrites.

Seriously, I thought I was playing an Xbox 1 game for a second when I first got past the intro cutscene. those were some muddy ass textures and weird looking character models. If it isnt running at 720, that would make sense to me.

Oh, and for those conveniently claiming that the gameplay is what matters: Yeah, Halo 3 gets boring real fast. They already have you running/backtracking thru the same level in the first 45 minutes of the game!! That's just lazy level design. I could go on, but meh......I'll just finish it in co op and then probably sell it.

Nega-review: Halo 3

Sep 26th 2007 12:20PM (Joystiq)
Sounds like this is just a collection of quotes from people who ACTUALLY HAD THE BALLS to say what a lot of other reviewers simply were too afraid to, lest they draw the ire of idiot fanboys.

What's disappointing though, is that Shoe's review definitely sounded like he was holding back, delicately presenting Halo 3's multiple faults. He didn't sound excited about the game at ALL. Even still, reading his review, it sounded like he was going to give it an 8.5 or something (based on how he does his other reviews). But.......he still gave it a ten.

I could just see him in front of his computer, grumbling to himself as he typed "10" as the final score, cursing the fact that he HAS to give it a "10" due to all of the media hype, and not pissing off the EGM readership.

Sony confirms: 80GB PlayStation 3 and price drop for 60GB model

Jul 9th 2007 5:01PM (Joystiq)
HDFury,

Well, I bought a PS3 @ Best Buy last week knowing this was going to happen. I made sure I asked about the price match guarantee, which the clerk confirmed was 30 days should the price drop. And then today.....bam.

So I essentially get $100 back when I go back to Best Buy with my receipt tomorrow. Basically, a unit that was $599 is now $499. That's a price drop. The 20 gig unit isn't even a factor at this point.

I'll just assume you're being superficial and snarky, yes? There's no switcheroo involved if there's nothing else to switch with. The price dropped. Plain and simple.

Microsoft expands Xbox 360 warranty for red ring sufferers

Oh, that wasn't mild-mannered? Ah well.

Carry on.
