Mike Smith Is 'Fourth-Down Master'

11 / 15 = 73.3%

Y'all wanna try that again?

Steelers Chances Slim, but They Don't Deserve Better

Dec 29th 2009 9:04AM (Fanhouse NFL Blog)
Key difference: The Colts and Saints had already clinched playoff berths when they lost. The Steelers hadn't clinched anything, and they needed to win to have a shot at the playoffs. They blew it. Had they won any one of those games against the Chiefs, Raiders & Browns, they would have controlled their own destiny this weekend, but they don't. They get what they deserve.

Perhaps those losses will convince them that they need to upgrade their offensive line and secondary this offseason. When your entire pass defense falls apart because one player (Polamalu) gets hurt, you got problems.

Ben Roethlisberger Goes Down in Steelers' Overtime Loss

Nov 23rd 2009 10:30AM (Fanhouse NFL Blog)
The Steelers should have let Batch keep throwing, or at least kept giving the ball to Mendenhall. That Mewelde Moore sweep on 3rd & 2 was an atrocious play call.

Tatum Bell Thinks His UFL Team Would Handily Beat Tampa Bay

Just FYI, Florida Tuskers QB Brooks Bollinger has a passer rating of 126.4.

Yes, THAT Brooks Bollinger.

ESPN and Me: How the Worldwide Leader Shaped One Fan's Life

Sep 7th 2009 10:26AM (Fanhouse Backporch)
Actually, ESPN just bought back the rights to the Australian Football League, and they've been showing live games and replays on ESPN360. From what I've heard they plan to air the AFL Grand Final live on Sept. 26 at midnight EST, so set your DVR accordingly.

I'm hoping for a St. Kilda Saints v. Geelong Cats rematch in the final. The regular season clash between those two was EPIC.

Keary Colbert Sabotages Matthew Stafford's Impressive Detroit Debut

Only in Detroit could Keary Colbert get a tryout. That man couldn't catch swine flu in a Mexican brothel.

J.P. Losman Becomes Face of the UFL

Jul 22nd 2009 2:35PM (Fanhouse NFL Blog)
There are worse things in life than to get paid $620,000 to play pro football for two months in Las Vegas. Let's just hope he doesn't blow it all at the craps table.

UFL Rules: Dancing Permitted, No Tuck Rule Among Highlights

Jul 9th 2009 9:46AM (Fanhouse NFL Blog)
Here's the point nobody is making:

If NFL owners follow through on their lockout plans in 2011 -- and some NFLPA reps say there's a 100% chance of that happening -- then the UFL has one simple goal: survive through 2011. Because if it exists come 2011, it might be the only pro football league available to watch, and wouldn't THAT make things interesting?

Michael Jackson Dies, Greatest Super Bowl Halftime Performer Ever

Jun 25th 2009 11:16PM (Fanhouse NFL Blog)
Y'know, Michael Jackson was an incredible entertainer, and he will be missed. He made some bad decisions late in his life -- he would have been better off fighting the initial lawsuit rather than paying $20M to make it go away, esp. since he was later ACQUITTED (H/T to Bomani Jones for that point) -- but nobody gets that big without going a little crazy, and nothing will ever take away his musical legacy, which lives on in dozens of performers today.

But c'mon, man, Prince put on a better halftime show than MJ did. It ain't even close.

Fran Tarkenton Needs His Own Show

May 28th 2009 7:47PM (Fanhouse NFL Blog)
Well, if ABC ever brings back "That's Incredible," they could always bring the old guy in for another spin.
