Nov 17th 2006 2:06PM (Joystiq)Actually, smashing a PS3 DOES hurt Sony. Remember, on every PS3 they crank out, Sony is losing a good chunk of change. As they operate on the razor/razor-blade model, they're hoping to recoup that on games and accessories. Taking the hammer to it keeps them from doing so.

Jul 9th 2006 8:42PM (Joystiq)resident geek on my school newspaper. I also have almost a year put
into a podcast (http://rangercast.podomatic.com). Unfortunately,
at the moment, I lack the free time for this sort of endeavor, though
I would love to join you guys, and this sort of job is one of my goals
as a writer, maybe someday in the future I will.
(I live in another hotbed of game development, Maryland. There are a ton of developers practically up the street from me. Firaxis, Big Huge Games, Day 1 Studios, BreakAway Games, et cetera.)

Jul 9th 2006 10:10AM (Joystiq)Lumines Live multiplayer blocked by micropayments [update 1]
Jun 20th 2006 8:27PM (Joystiq)Mizuguchi-san would have to be on some serious drugs (then again, this is the man behind Rez ;-) ) to think this is a good idea. Charging people for what should be standard components of a game they already bought is ridiculous. Paying some MS Points for some new songs down the road? Fine. Slapping down some more for a multiplayer mode in Lumines Live when the very title of the game implies online play? BS.
Of course, if the reason was because they couldn't make it in time to ship, that would be fine. But that clearly isn't it. That said, Lumines is always worth the money. I just hope they don't end up nickel-and-diming us, and I hope it doesn't set a precedent.
