I posted the same thing below...totally 100% agree. Serious gaming on a touchscreen is a no-go. I just can't deal with it. Here's to hoping this device is true.
Serious gaming on the iPhone sucks. The touchscreen approximations of physical controls makes for terrible gaming. There is no tactile feel of where your thumb is on the screen, the buttons have no feel...it is just a lousy substitute for a real game system. That said, the iPhone has excellent graphics and is a perfect platform for games to run on. So, if Apple wants this to be a DS killer, why not give us a sort-of controller docking station so we have a proper stick and buttons? All of this effort on games, but no real means to properly control them...it's a waste, and I think it is due to Apple's stubbornness. I understand how they wanted to be all revolutionary and touchscreen, but it's time to come full circle here and integrate the touchscreen WITH a physical controller. Now that would put all of the handheld systems out of business.
They have had the R&D done on this car probably years ago, even the V version. I am guessing the end of performance editions stopped with any new development. It's very close to production, so that tells you its been in the hopper for some time. The CTS is one of the best and most successful modern American cars, and personally I think this is the one car they need to keep the V brand alive because it does compete and surpass European rivals.
As for the other cars mentioned, even though they are high volume will the people buy them? I don't see much faith in the basic American car right now outside of a few models. They don't compete with Japan, and now Korea. At least with the CTS you know there is demand because the car is proven.
"Using Priceline, I've found prices as low as $25 a night at perfectly good motels just outside the park property in the off season."
You get what you pay for and $25 a night does not get you a nice motel in any way comparable to a Disney resort. There are plenty of positive reviews out there for budget motels because of what you are getting for the money. Also people have different standards for what is nice. For many people, those places are not going to cut it. The lowest-end Disney resorts are comparable to a good hotel, plus you get park benefits like extra magic hours and free transportation all around the property.
I'm just floored by this thing's track results. As a proud MS3 owner, I am a tad jealous that this is a whole 3 seconds faster on the track...that is damn impressive. And they say its ride is not as harsh! I still prefer the MS3's looks by far, and the interior is a lot nicer in the Mazda, but again...damn. This no-lift shifting sounds heaven-sent too. Can even the mighty upcoming Ford Focus RS top this as the next FWD king?
So let me get this straight, you predicted this thing would beat a 135i, Evo MR, IS-F, and Elise on the track? I don't think anyone could see that coming.
Give the "RevoKnuckle" a chance. If it does as they claim, what is the difference if it's FWD or not? Less weight, less drivetrain loss, less cost. The last RS is a legend...one of the best handling cars Top Gear has ever driven. It beats a WRX on the track, so really...no issue. Jeremy Clarkson was raving about it.
This is definitely an improvement...I would drive this, but I still think the Mazdaspeed3 is the best looking hatch out there. The new Mazda3 might even trump that.
It doesn't matter if it "doesn't add up" to you. There are all sorts of electronic things going on in this car that Porsches, or any other cars for that matter, just don't have. That can and will make a difference. Watch Top Gear or any other show where you can listen to the drivers while they drive this car. They are always stunned by how nimble the car is and how much speed you can carry through corners with it...defying the weight of the car. They always point this out, so really...yes, the GT-R DOES defy the traditional numbers game.
