How do you know it won't be? Did you not like Far Cry? While the sequel isn't developed by the original developers, which does usually spell trouble, the original Far Cry is one of the best single-player FPS experiences of all time.
Nope, sorry it's a smaller turbo. It will never really compete with the WRX because it's way heavier and the transmission is geared for smooth driving not hard acceleration...it doesn't have the sport mode of the Evo.
The Mazdaspeed 3 will trash this car in any situation, but I'd love to have that twin-clutch. AWD is not a big deal...it really isn't unless you live where it snows a lot. Learn how to drive. Ralliart owners will have to shy away from MS3s and WRXs in any straight-line contest. The small turbo, transmission, and porky weight will also prevent this car from ever really competing with the others in this respect.
I don't like how some cars (all?) paddles turn with the wheel. The paddles should stay stationary as the wheel turns. If you want to shift while turning and you start going lock to lock...how are you going to find the paddle that you want, or even find the paddle at all?
I'm sorry, but the Ralliart is a failure. It's not even better than the new WRX...IN ANY WAY. I compared the numbers of both cars from Edmund's Inside Line full tests of each car:
0-60 Ralliart: 6.6 WRX: 5.9
1/4 mile: Ralliart: 14.8 @ 94.6 WRX: 14.5 @ 94.4
Slalom: Ralliart: 65.0 WRX: 67.7
Skidpad: Ralliart: 0.81g WRX: 0.81g
Some new tires will help, but that turbo is going to be a bottleneck. It will not hang with an equally tuned WRX at the strip...ever. This is a major disappointment. To not even top the much maligned new WRX stock for stock is a joke. I'll take an MS3 over either of them and pocket the monthly savings.
I don't know how excited I'd be about the Ralliart. Have you read the review on Inside Line? It ran a 6.6 second 0-60, and 14.8 run in the 1/4 mile. And before you think it is just a few CPU mods away from an Evo, consider that twin clutch that you are stuck with. I hope the tuners know how to modify the transmission because it is not as aggressive as the Evo and may hinder tuning performance. It also weighs over 3500 lbs. It also apparently has horrible narrow wheels and stock rubber, so tack on another 2+ grand for wider wheels and tires to make it more Evo-like. The standard Lancer GTS was faster through the slalom!!! The Ralliart is looking less and less like a good deal. Sure, it has AWD and a trick transmission, but you will get annihilated by a Mazdaspeed 3 without some serious dough spent on modifications. At 29K price as tested you might as well just spend the extra money and go for an Evo.
The Yaris doesn't compare to the Versa power-wise, safety-wise, looks-wise (IMO), feature-wise, or interior-wise. All it has is better gas mileage. I would have said we need competitors to the Fit and Versa before the Yaris.
