You can change the camera in Skyrim to a 3rd person view if you want. In fact its how I play the game when I'm out exploring.

Consumer space =/= gaming space.

The PC population that switched over to using a mac probably did not care for "serious" gaming. Windows gaming doesn't have any ground to make up.
