If good content is released for free, no one is going to buy the trashy content. And God only knows what happens when people stop buying shitty products. Way to go, Microsoft!
Before the Wii was released people questioned if it would work at all. And now that it is released people are questioning if it will still be fun tomorrow? Or the day after?
Every single person who has touched a Wii has had a blast with it. Every. Single. Person. Half of my friends hate videogames, yet they all love playing Wii. Microsoft is just trying to scare as many gamers away to sell a few more consoles before X-Mas.
The only reason the Wii could ever fail is if developers actively decided not to put their games on the system. The end.
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam is actually a really good game. There are problems, and it takes a while to get to the good part, but as a game that takes advantage of the remote it's fantastic.
Madden Wii feels like a brand new experience. If the other ports are treated the same way, I'll be pretty happy to buy one or two more EA Sports games (games I usually don't like).
This is pretty smart for Nintendo. The price is right ($250 is the same price as an iPod). There is playability right out of the box. It encourages expansion (3 games use 1 remote, boxing and tennis multiplayer use 2). It may not appeal to the teenagers and college students at first, but it appeals to the guy with too much money and a little bit of nostalgia, his girlfriend, and their parents.
Also, I have a feeling that this is going to have a Guitar Hero effect. I know that after I played GH with one guitar I scoured this entire campus for a second guitar.
