Join the riverside community of ... Riverspring in Game of Thrones on May 15
Feb 6th 2012 12:49PM (Joystiq)I agree it is an interesting choice. It would have been nice to choose a home city, allying yourself with one of the main houses in my opinion. At the same time though, this gives the player a new location to call their own and craft their new story in an existing universe.
For me, this game will hinge on its representation of the world locations. I want great gameplay and story like I do in any game, but the significant landmarks are one of the main reasons I'd buy a franchise tie-in like this. Hopefully it isn't just a cash grab and the developers can do those elements justice.

Upcoming XBL content: Deals on Lara Croft, PoP, Street Fighter
Dec 1st 2011 9:45AM (Joystiq)Agreed, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was a lot of fun, especially coop. A friend and I had no problem enjoying it multiple times to get the unlockables. I would definitely recommend it.
A platform, Karkand, and Battlefield 3
Nov 9th 2011 7:58AM (Joystiq)I haven't understood the debate I've read about the amount of destruction in BF3. I've felt that there is just as much destruction in BF3 (many buildings are completely destructible) it just takes more time. I believe that if DICE didn't strategically limit some of the destruction 64 players would reduce most maps to a flat, uninteresting mess before a match was a quarter of the way complete. The destruction is there, it just requires more time and ammunition. Not every wall needs to come down just because a grenade landed next to it.
Travel Back to the future of Karkand with screens from Battlefield 3's first DLC
Oct 31st 2011 11:00AM (Joystiq)I thought it was Day 1 as well, but I looked around afterward and saw that it was well publicized that it was to be released later. Apparently I was too blinded by the thought of new Karkand and Wake Island maps to concentrate on the rest of the details.

Oct 20th 2011 3:08PM (Joystiq)The commentators were brutal though, both with the play-by-play and switching feeds. I don't know how many times they swapped from the attacking team just as things got interesting to watch a flash-banged screen for several seconds. :/
Seeing the first footage made me want to to go play some Source, surprisingly so, but as the initial surprise of a new CS wears off I'm left wondering how much I'd be willing to play a new CS that seems to mostly consist of map remakes. I would want the remakes to be there, it wouldn't be CS without them, but an influx of new maps to a game that's more than a decade old would be nice.
