@Rev Otto

1: Intel Macs no longer use a "Bios" it's an EFI.

2: A swap to merom has already been down on an Intel iMac and Mini. The chips works just fine, albeit OS X doesnt know what it is. Once Apple updates OS X upon getting the new CPU's this shouldnt be an issue.

Sony gets their 50GB dual-layer Blu-ray discs out the door

Dan:

Blu-ray 2x is roughly equivelent to 7x DVD. So it isn't that slow. If you think 2x is akin to the CD-ROM days you need a refresher course.

You are all making comparisons to hard drives. I find this to be quite ridiculous.

If hard drives were the way to go, then I would be walking around with about 3 right now. Putting then into a hard drive player. Oh and my shelf would be full of about 50 hard drives too.

Optical media obviously still has a place in the market, otherwise we be carrying hard drives around.

Apple Mac Pro hands-on

Aug 8th 2006 12:32AM (Engadget)
Maybe Apple price the Mac Pro like this, to make way for something new in the lineup. They only have one MacPro which you configure. Instead of 3 like before.

Apple is clearly changing their lineup and I think they will introduce a new between mini and pro consumer very soon.

Stop getting pissed people, no one knows if they will or not. Just be patient.
