Nintendo buys Xenosaga dev Monolith Soft
Apr 27th 2007 2:09AM (Joystiq)Monolith's truly good series was Baten Kaitos, which was on Nintendo consoles anyway. With the purchase, Nintendo acquires another franchise to milk indefinitely and find a way to make it gimmicky with the motion sensitivity.
As for a Xenogears remake, doesn't Square Enix still hold the rights to Xenogears, since it was developed in-house prior to the creater leaving to form Monolith?
Confessions of ... a video game store customer
Apr 6th 2007 2:34AM (Joystiq)In the end, I think Ben Affleck said it best (you don't hear that every day) in Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back when he said "This is a site populated by militant movie buffs who sit around all day bitching about actors and films they claim to despise but can't seem to stop discussing." I paraphrased the quote a bit, but I'm sure you get my point. But just in case you didn't, my point is: shut the hell up and find something else to spend your shallow life doing. In fact, here's an idea. Everyone who hates these places so much? Start your own game store and run things exactly the way you think they should be run. Give a lot for trade ins, don't offer reserves or warranties or magazine subscriptions. Then go to your local Game Stop after you go out of business, and apologize for being a douche.
Gamestop shenanigans sell open games as 'new'
Mar 25th 2007 10:25PM (Joystiq)By law, the defenition of a new product is whether or not it's been played. Not whether or not it's been opened. If you don't like it, great. Shut up about it though. If you don't want to shop at Game Stop, fantastic. They probably don't want you to shop there either.
Do you people realize that the Game Stop employees are, for the most part, gamers just like you? Actually, they're probably more intelligent than you and have a stronger grasp on how the industry operates. But then they have to read about how they're the 'enemy'. You know what? Go to hell.
Yeah, the sell opened games as 'new'. They are new. And on the occasion that a new game is checked out by an employee (yes, it does sadly happen from time to time), if it's returned in questionable shape, the employee has to purchase the game. Of course, this is rarely enforced, as the store managers are so abused by both customers and corporate that they really don't give a damn.
You know what would solve all of your problems? Show a little respect. My local Game Stop is run by a bunch of good people who are constantly being looked down on, because they work at Game Stop. I've found, however, that by actually talking to them, proving that you aren't the asshole they're used to dealing with, they'll be far more open to bending rules for you, giving you the 10% discount if your game was a gut copy.
Unless it's come out within the last few days, in which case you really should have reserved it. And why do reserves piss you ignoramouses (ignoramosai? not sure what the pluralized form actually is) off so much? It doesn't cost anything extra, and it ensures you won't get a gut copy. Thus eliminating your entire point of arguement.
