I'm starting to think that the Sega response wasn't a stupid answer, but a customer service rep's subtle attempt at commentary on SOPA and the government that is proposing it.
There are times where re-recordings are needed (rights issues, missing multi-tracks, etc), and it's generally okay by me, as long as it's done well (unlike Hair of the Dog by Nazareth). But what annoys me is a case like Styx, where they release re-recordings by the current band on Rock Band, but Guitar/Band Hero gets original recordings from the real band.
On another note, any indications of which members of The Runaways took part in the re-recording?
I love the fact that they're releasing midi-to-controller adapters, but I hope this is not the final design; the midi input is on the wrong side. The pitch wheel is supposed to be on the left side of the keyboard. With the input on the left side of the device, you're going to have excess wire wrapped around the adapter, making it akward. The input should either be on the right, or the rear. The entire button/wheel layout looks difficult to use, likely to hit unwanted buttons when reaching for the wheel during a song. Also, what about the touch strip that is on the keytar? No analogue to it on the adapter? Too bad the adapters aren't multi-system. No real reason why they couldn't be. (Same could be said for the instruments, too)
Anyone else slightly annoyed that there are no PS3 or Wii prototypes or mock-ups being shown?
Now that the moaning is out of the way, I'm really looking forward to hearing more info next week! Hopefully full insight to instrument compatibility (can RB2 drums w/existing cymbals do Pro mode? GH drums?), wireless tech (bluetooth, RF, etc?), and possibility of retrofitting existing DLC.
Love the redesign, but I've got one problem. Something that changed is setting off the filtering software at my job. Don't know what it is (probably something to do with the ads), but it would be awesome if I could read the site at work again! Thanks.
You're joking, right? Because those rerecorded drums and bass have caused such a shitstorm for Ozzy that the upcoming anniversary editions are using the original mixes.
