Konami Code Easter eggs dug up across the web

May 9th 2009 12:18PM (Joystiq)
Lots of sites use jQuery (a javascript framework). Right on the jQuery site they offer a konami code listener... not surprised it winds up in a lot of sites. I'm sure a lot of the this is done by web developers that sneak this into the code, since it's so easy:

Nintendo denies official DS developer status to 'Bob's Game' creator

If his game is good, he should just contact every licensed DS publisher out there and see who is interested in buying the game off of him.

I know I'm not the one to put a ridiculous amount of hours into a game, but I think I'd be happy to get my game published and on the shelf at BestBuy or GameStop (and hopefully make a few bucks).

Ozzy in Guitar Hero: World Tour, Lars hints at GH: Metallica

Aug 11th 2008 12:37PM (Joystiq Playstation)
I don't get why people get upset about all the different GH games. It must just be people who have nothing better to do than complain.

I bought GH:3, and I really liked it. GH: Aerosmith came out, and I didn't buy it. Why? I like Aerosmith, but not enough to buy the game for $40 or $50. I was surprised to find that the Activision folks didn't actually break down my door and force me to buy it.

Maybe I'm just smarter than the average person, like MakaiOokami here? Is it just me that realizes that if I don't like a product, I don't have to buy it?

Oh yeah, one of my friends did buy GH:Aerosmith though. He's a big fan of the band, so of course, he loves it. Funny how that works, huh? Some people like a game, some people don't?

Oh yeah, and for the record, I'm totally buying GH:Metallica if/when it comes out. That will be awesome. However, just a warning to other people out there who might not be so smart... if you don't like Metallica, you DON'T have to buy the game. Remember that!!!

Good music possible in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

If you read the actual press release from the RedOctane site, you'll notice a few things:

1 - It says "puts players in the shoes of Perry (guitar), Whitford (guitar) and Hamilton (bass), as they rock out alongside frontman Tyler and drummer Kramer. " To me, this means no mic and no drums.

2 - It does mention in this article there will be other bands as well, so I guess that makes it official, although it doesn't say who.

3 - Aerosmith likes to talk about themselves and how good they are (I'm a fan, but come on... you don't have to pump yourselves up that much!!!).

Sony: PS3 sales increased dramatically, won't reflect in NPD

Nov 15th 2007 1:51PM (Joystiq)
I wonder if those numbers are "Shipped" or "Sold", because my local Best Buy has at least 60 PS3's in stock, but barely an XBox360 or Wii to be found... It reminds me of a year ago when Microsoft shipped a boat load of 360's out just so they could say they reached 10 million units... shipped.

PS3 to have DVR capabilities in 2008

Aug 1st 2007 11:52AM (Joystiq)
Sounds cool, but the PS3 is going to need another hard drive.

I've got a PVR (through Rogers cable in Canada) and it's got a 160GB drive in it. This gives you about 20hrs of HD recording, or 90hrs of standard-def recording.

Now, you've got an 80GB drive on the latest PS3's which would give you HALF capacity (10hrs HD, 45hrs SD), and that's if you put NOTHING else on this drive.

Start installing games, or downloading content from the PS3 store, save games, etc... all of a sudden you don't have much room to save your favorite TV shows.

If they do add this TV tuner, I'd expect they would also add support for a secondary external hard drive. What good is PVR functionality if you've got no space to record shows?

U.S. Nintendo presser somewhat-liveblogging [update 8]

FYI.

Since the new 8GB iPod Nano is $249US and selling for $299 Canadian, you can probably expect a $299 Canadian price tag for the Wii.
