i think the decline of PC gaming has much more to do with feature parity than piracy.
the only way to play online games, high definition games, and games that pushed graphics to the limit used to be on the PC. with high definition consoles with internet connectivity and hard drives, the console is essentially a PC with a gimped operating system and standardized system requirements.
the ps3 is not unhackable. no piece of hardware is unhackable, and saying so only demonstrates ignorance. i would hardly say xbox 360 piracy is rampant just because you can do it. piracy has nothing to do with console exclusives, it's still essentially a non-issue to developers except on pc.
microsoft built a better relationship with t2/rockstar, period. it could be money, but i doubt it's just that. remember when gta was ps2 first, everything else later? developers want to develop for the popular console from the manufacturer that's easy to work with.
sony has exclusives, nintendo has exclusives, and microsoft has exclusives. get over it.
sure you have a bigger potential audience with a multiplatform strategy, but an exclusive strategy for certain titles can be an advantage. making an exclusive game means you'll get funding and/or marketing support from the console maker. multiplatform means you need more development time, more man hours, and for many releases it's not worth it - just release the game on the most popular platform.
everyone knew from the beginning that xbox 360 would sell more. it was always cheaper until just a while ago. you should have expected things like this. lost and the damned sucked. ballad of gay tony is good, but it's not like it adds more to the map or anything. less than 10% of my gta play time is spent on the story. it's not a big deal.
i love papa john's pizza, there's something unique about it. i'm not sure why coming on here and flaming the taste is productive when taste is just that - taste. completely personal.
i can say i've had better pizza, but for a major delivery chain, i really like it. i also like the free garlic butter and pepper.
i dunno, i really like it for some reason. the art is fantastic, and the colors are supposed to be a little ridiculous - this is spongebob after all, not something serious.
I really liked the episode, but it did bother me a little being a US citizen. What did they expect the people in Alabama to do when they pull up in cars that essentially mock their beliefs and do so through stereotypes? What did they think, that gun weilding Americans are going to take ridicule from someone who lives across the Atlantic and has no idea what rural American life is like?
If you were in your hometown and you saw some foreigners mocking your beliefs and way of life, I'm sure you'd be pretty pissed. Rural Americans are essentially trashed by the mainstream media (domestic and international) and they saw this group of 3 TV actors with their camera crew making fools of themselves just to laugh at the expense of them. Any self respecting community would run them out of town.
in order for nintendo to add dvd playback functionality, they have to pay a licensing fee. there is zero benefit to nintendo adding dvd playback because:
1. everyone who wants a dvd player has one 2. nintendo will make no money selling dvds and sales of the wii would not see a significant hardware sales increase by including the feature.
before sony, no one included movie playback capability in consoles, because only sony pictures stands to benefit from increased dvd and blu-ray sales.
um, that's the point! the reason you buy hyundai is because you can get a car that's a mashup of the world's popular cars at a much better value (and with better quality than any of the european cars it rips off)
what does styling matter when you are looking for a family sedan? hyundai's market WANTS them to copy features from mercedes, lexus, etc. hyundai's goal is to provide the best quality, utility, and the most features for the money. people who can't afford the cars hyundai rips off appreciates what they are doing.
well enjoy your slow, supposed-to-be-luxury, made from buckets of GM parts cars, o wise saab driver. the interior and exterior on this sonata looks better than any saab i've ever seen. saab only looks unique because their cars have looked the same for over a decade. after choosing from saab's extensive 2 model lineup (not including the saab envoy, lol), have fun putting your ignition key in a really inconvenient place just to be unique.
saab: born from jets, but good luck getting more than 4 cylinders.
i feel like a troll, i'm sorry i feel like ripping saab apart, but criticizing hyundai for this kind of thing just totally misses the point. the other carmakers' (especially honda and toyota) number 1 fear should be hyundai/kia going into the next decade.
i mean if you think it's nicer to drive in crowded, small roads in a crowded, small, manual transmission euro-box with a gas pedal that acts more like an on/off switch, that's cool.
or you can live in america and drive a big, comfortable car that gets worse mileage, but also pollutes less (since american emissions standards are more strict, and since diesels are all but non-existant in american cities). you don't have to bother yourself with a manual transmission because there are no benefits for the american consumer.
you also don't have to bother yourself with a car that handles well since all the roads are straight.
so yeah, it really sucks in america, where you don't have to shift, worry about giving half your gas money to the government, and get larger cars than europe or asia. (all this at a lower price)
guns are legal in our country because at the time of our founding, a strong militia was needed to keep the US safe. guns are allowed in the bill of rights, and since the constitution is our sacred law, not many restrictive gun laws would ever be enacted.
prostitution is illegal in most places due to our protestant heritage, but it is legal in nevada (where it counts).
i still firmly believe that the US takes a lot of flak on some issues somewhat unfairly considering many freedoms that Europeans lack that Americans do have. in the US nobody would go for the kind of surveillance that exists in the UK, nor the Germans' censorship in non-broadcast media.
