@Captain Planet Planeteer Power Oh, but Westwood isn't dead...Its spirit (and a great deal of its employees) lives on in Petroglyph games, and their new RTS End of Nations (www.endofnations.com)...which looks pretty promising (if they don't mess up with unbalanced pay-elements in the free-to-play scheme).
@ytilanigiroon "I guess I'd just rather see what the data would look like if the option for digital distribution was there for the big titles. Like, if Arkham City was available via brick-and-mortar retailers and XBLM/PSN; how would the sales compare? There's nobody doing it at the moment, it'd just be interesting to see."
Stores vs. Steam, my friend, although I guess PC wouldn't quite give the same stats. Should be possible to find stats on it from retail-sales and steam-sales of AAA games though.
@Haggard Don't think they expected a third one (Sam Lake even said something along those lines before selling the license to Take-Two, iirc.). As far as I'm concerened, the ending hardest to acchieve (i.e. the one you reach last) is the one that sticks.
I don't understand what Rockstar is thinking here. If they want to make "uncharted-meats-splinter-cell, São Paulo edition' they should give it a new name, using the Max Payne license makes no sense. Since it's already the third game it will be much harder to continue writing another sequel if it does well enough, which would be easy for a new universe, and no matter how great this game is, it is not looking (or sounding) like a Max Payne game, so they will no doubt piss off (parts to most) of the fanbase they want to tap into by using the MP license. Heck I'm already annoyed... As Max Payne 3 I'm not buying this unless several reviewers convince me it is true to the originals, and that will take a lot of convincing. Rename it "Baldy goes nuts" or something and it'd be on my anticipated-list. Plus, it would free up the license so they could pack it up together with a "We're sorry we almost ruined it"-card and send it to Remedy; that way Sam Lake can write a true MP3...
Am playing this right now, and while fun it just seems a bit random (especially wanted). Can't count how many times I've randomly stumbled into those who've got a contract on me while changing area. Maybe the locator-ring should only update every 5 seconds or so, might fix that aspect.
@xiLeShadow Sums it up nicely, although DX11 should be in the final release. Also, I can see why some people might want an aim assist option for those days when they want to use a gamepad to get completely obliviated, but to have it on by default? I have a mouse, thank you!
@ch3burashka If you had played MP2 on the toughest (though still insultingly easy) setting, you would find that Max letting himself go makes no sense (unless they somehow address that ending as well, which I doubt). Not to mention that nothing about his character, or how he handled the events of the first two (especially the first) games indicates he'd just let himself go now. Give me back the noire feeling of the first two games and another brilliant villain (NH and VL are amongst my favourite villains of all games) and I'll be a happy guy!
