Wii not even remotely region-free
Sep 15th 2006 8:48PM (Joystiq)If it was just that one person from Nintendo who screwed up in an interview, then it's not really like the company as a whole lied to us. Sony's lies have been a bit different as they've been in official company speeches that definitely do represent the company as a whole.

Sep 15th 2006 1:28PM (Joystiq)My main gripe with your original post is the fact that it wasn't on topic. I have no problem with your housekeeper whatsoever, so please stop acting like I do.
As for Nintendo letting people down, Nintendo said it would be under 250. It's 249.99. A lot of bloggers and individuals, not Nintendo, acted like it was going to be some super cheap system. You can't blame Nintendo at all for that. Compared to its competitors it is the affordable system. I am very sorry that your housekeeper can't afford one, but that's not Nintendo's fault.

Sep 15th 2006 1:09PM (Joystiq)You resorted to calling people names first, and just as I know nothing about your life, you know nothing about anyone else's here. My calling you a "limousine liberal" was a guess based on past experience.
In any event, only part of your first post had anything to do with the topic here (Vlad's ramblings). There were other Joystiq posts that actually had something to do with your complaints, so why didn't you post your rant there?

Sep 15th 2006 12:50PM (Joystiq)You might want to get your facts straight.
The Wii does indeed come with a game - Wii Sports (Basketball, baseball, tennis, bowling, and golf)
I love your "housekeeper" story. You are a typical limousine liberal.

Sep 15th 2006 11:58AM (Joystiq)Please, spare us the business major garbage. As someone in the pure sciences, I can only say business degrees are for wimps. (Kidding.) But in all seriousness, anyone with half a brain could have understood his first post without him editing or clarifying it in the comments of that post or adding yet another post if he had done what he should have done in the first place and what he is supposed to do here: write well.
But that's still not the issue. His "point" was wrong, so ultimately whether or not he conveyed it to readers isn't a big deal because it was a completely flawed editorial point he was trying to make.
What's even worse is that lots of people DID get his point in the first post but he refuses to acknowledge that because he'd have to admit that almost everyone disagrees with him including some darn intelligent individuals here. Other readers such as myself realized that there really was nothing to his point.
Wii launches Dec. 8 in Europe for GBP 179
Sep 15th 2006 10:55AM (Joystiq)Assuming it's the same as the US (no reason to think it isn't):

Aussie Wii for AUD399.95 on Dec. 7

Sep 15th 2006 5:50AM (Joystiq)I read that. I hope for Europe's sake that it's not true. As an American, I'm likely going to be part of the first region to get my hands on the Wii, but hopefully those in Europe won't have to wait a whole frickin' four months before they get their hands on it.
