BioShock marked down to two freaking dollars on Games For Windows today
Nov 21st 2010 9:36AM (Joystiq)The guy further up with the essay got it right, I can't be bothered to post as much as him as I don't even think this game deserves it, but I will post twice as my other comment's not showing up (yet) to add my vote to 'overhyped POS game of the decade', it's just fundamentally broken in so many ways it's a chore to play, the designers seem to think they are doing us a favour letting us play their 'vision' but this game is a work of giant egos not the work of game lovers.

Nov 11th 2010 1:44PM (Joystiq)I don't really feel surprised that a game in this series of dirge has such bugs as they rush this shit out each year for the fanboys to lap up and think players should feel honored that they even release it let alone do any testing on it.
I guarantee they knew about this bug before shipping but shipped anyway with the 'patch later' mentality, esp as they now see PC players as lowly scum which is pathetic. I'm a ps3 and PC player and this shit gets me annoyed. Devs like this should go out of business.

Nov 10th 2010 3:34AM (Joystiq)Kinect standalone power supply now available from Microsoft
Nov 9th 2010 10:34AM (Joystiq)I used to resent the fact my first (and only) 360 died without being eligible for free replacement (it was e74 BEFORE they admitted that was also their fault), I got burned for £300+ on that bad boy, beyond repair, no warranty all their (since then, admitted and revealed to be prior knowledge) fault.
Yes I was seething for many months, that's what led me to buy a PS3 as a replacement rather than the 360 even though I was very fond of some of it's games (PGR, Dead Rising, even Gears)
Now? With the price hikes for XBlive, and their continued nickle and diming of punters I'm really glad it died when it did. I now have no reason to even consider buying into this 'farce' of a control scheme (seriously and utterly flawed for anyone in a normal home and to play anything close to good games that I'd be interested in) and as I had the older version of 'the box' I'd also be having to slap down another $40 on this 'thing'. HOW MUCH? MS it's only electricity, you didn't invent it you know...
Shame really that I hate MS so much for the 360 RROD BS as I'm actually behind them with Windows 7 and Windows phone 7 (can't stand apple as it goes).

Nov 9th 2010 10:28AM (Joystiq)Bad sign, good deal: Enslaved for $25 on Amazon
Nov 9th 2010 9:13AM (Joystiq)I wanted to love the game (obviously, I paid for it on PS3) and did at first, the first level on the flying thing looked amazing in places. Once landed it all went down hill fast, it was beyond linear, you couldn't do anything other than what the game wanted you to do, most of the choices or puzzling was done by that mouth female companion. It just rubbed me up the wrong way and was glad to to be finished with it and traded it in sharpish.
I really hope if they are serious about a sequel they take a long hard look at the complaints about the first and address them, these are not mere whiny players who want everything perfect these are fun crushers and go against everything that supposedly makes gaming great (proper interaction and sense of empowerment and discovery). This is an extremely dull trek through an slightly above average (for a game) story with far too much hand holding and gameplay design from the 90s.
