Metareview: Brutal Legend

Oct 14th 2009 8:01PM (Joystiq)
Here's the thing, reviews are not just "opinions". Real professional reviewers don't just say whatever they feel like, they go through all of the details of a game on a fact by fact basis and try to make objective statements. Whether they personally like a game should have very little to do with the score.

Try going back to school and convincing all your teachers that their grades for your papers were all just "opinions" and see how far that gets you.

Metareview: Brutal Legend

I like GiantBomb and all, but since when were their reviews included in Metareviews? It was only included for its abysmally low score. I like GiantBomb, but they are flat out wrong in their review. Brutal Legend is one of the best game's I've played in a very long time. It has unmatched story-telling, and a very cool mixture of gameplay styles, and contrary to GiantBomb's statement, it does not suck at all of them at all. The RTS gameplay is very different and quite cool, the action gameplay isn't exactly going to win any awards, but surprise! THIS IS NOT AN ACTION GAME.

Review: Brutal Legend

We've known that it is an RTS for a long time. While that will definitely lessen its broad appeal, as an RTS fan, I will love it (hopefully).

Bethesda production director says MS 'totally bungled' ODST marketing

Sep 22nd 2009 4:26PM (Joystiq)
That one statement really did screw up a lot of the image of the game. Every review brings it up, and some (Ars Technica...) can't get over it, and message boards all over the Internet are exploding about it. Bungie did make a mistake, but they are a game developer, not a marketing company. The fact that such a small mistake had such widespread effects is still surprising, and you can bet no other dev will be making a similar mistake for a long time.

Kodu gets creative on Xbox 360 June 30 [update]

This should be interesting for a short while. Seems to be worth 5 bucks if nothing else. I'm curious if you are able to share games and if so, how it works.

Commodore64 iPhone app finished, denied by Apple

Jun 20th 2009 10:59PM (Joystiq)
During that year of development, they thought they would be able to sell an emulator on the App Store without ever double checking? That is just ridiculous. I'm sure it sucks for the dev team, but someone should have stopped and pointed out the fact that the restrictions looked like they might be a problem.

PSA: Resident Evil 5 'Versus Mode' DLC out now

Apr 7th 2009 7:47PM (Joystiq)
Speaking as a programmer, 1.8GB sounds like an entirely plausible size for what you are getting. That said, $5 for game modes that almost every other game on the planet already include for free is ridiculous. But are we really surprised? This is the same compay that released a new spinoff to Street Fighter II on a $60 cartridge (and this was when that was overpriced) every few months over 10 years ago.

Afrika just can't wait to be almost king

I guess I'm in the minority, but I really want this game. I'll have to get the JP version if it isn't annouced for the US market soon.

Charts reveal slowing PSN release schedule

Wasn't Syphon Filter just released last week? There should be a PS1 game under June.

Amazon.com all the way.
