whether you play a pirated game early or you play a pirated game after release you still run the same risk of being banned. it really makes zero difference.

in all honesty i don't think there's anything that could get me to stop pirating at this point.

the only games i bother paying for anymore are steam games
1) because of the multiplayer
2) because digital distribution is amazingly convenient

i also buy the occasional game on XBLA but i'll be completely honest: if there was a way to get those for free, I wouldn't hesitate.
