it seems like the way Wii owners buys games are a lot diff than other consoles. Probably due to the overwhelming # of titles released on the system and hesitation to figure out a good game from a lot of shovelware that's out there at the moment. Also I don't think Wii games are that big of a risk anyways for these 3rd party companies as development cost for the Wii rivals that of the previous generation system and more in the line of PSP in terms of resources used to create top tier games. While the other systems require much more investment a cost of 3-4x as much according to recent articles. To be quite honest I think that a lot of developers overprice the Wii software where they should really be selling initially at $40 for top tier games (NMH, Madworld PunchOut!!! etc) and $20-30 for low budget games like deBlob, BoomBlox, Zak&Wiki, MoH:Heroes(because Heroes is a psp port), Little King Story, etc. This also contributes to low intital sales as when a title does poorly the developers are very quick to drop the price and accept a lower profit margin(which they should have in the begining) making the consumer aware of a pattern that 3rd party games drop very quickly!
