Japanese hardware sales, Nov. 23 - Nov. 29: Unnatural edition

Dec 8th 2009 3:37AM (Joystiq)
The PS3 still hasn't given me a reason to pick up the system besides LBP and UC2 which is why I am not picking one up. It doesn't really matter though as I can get most of my HD gaming with the 360 and family oriented fun on the Wii (though R&C was great for the kids). I'll just hold on to $$$ I got until PS3 brings out a truly worthy games for me to reinvest in the system!!!

LOL....the NEVER ending battle between the PS2 and 360 and Japan. C'mon the Japanese have really lost all sense of what quality is in videogames!!!

I wanted to pick up a PS3 this black friday but besides UC2 and LBP there really isn't any game out right now that I consider system sellers!!! I guess I'll hang on for a while and see if FF XIII is any good; otherwise I'll wait for the suppose price drop next year! I have the 360 and the Wii to hold me until then but I really wanted to find a reason to pick up a PS3 besides those two games!!!

Nintendo's Fils-Aime: 'effectively marketed' third-party titles can sell on Wii

Nov 17th 2009 2:57PM (Joystiq)
well most of those games sold decent to good not blockbuster or million sellers but definitely profitable. For example: NMH sold ~500k ww including 260k in the america's alone; despite only having decent opening sales(hence a wii EXCLUSIVE sequel). Other games that sold well despite having decent to lukewarm sale are:

-BoomBlox: 1m sold ww 600+k in N. America (hence an exclusive sequel) despite below avg sales http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/07/30/boom-blox-sales-stack-up/
-MoH:Heroes: 500k ww 300+k in N.A.
-deBlob: 700+k ww 400k N.A.
-House of the Dead-Overkill: 420k ww 200k ww

it seems like the way Wii owners buys games are a lot diff than other consoles. Probably due to the overwhelming # of titles released on the system and hesitation to figure out a good game from a lot of shovelware that's out there at the moment. Also I don't think Wii games are that big of a risk anyways for these 3rd party companies as development cost for the Wii rivals that of the previous generation system and more in the line of PSP in terms of resources used to create top tier games. While the other systems require much more investment a cost of 3-4x as much according to recent articles. To be quite honest I think that a lot of developers overprice the Wii software where they should really be selling initially at $40 for top tier games (NMH, Madworld PunchOut!!! etc) and $20-30 for low budget games like deBlob, BoomBlox, Zak&Wiki, MoH:Heroes(because Heroes is a psp port), Little King Story, etc. This also contributes to low intital sales as when a title does poorly the developers are very quick to drop the price and accept a lower profit margin(which they should have in the begining) making the consumer aware of a pattern that 3rd party games drop very quickly!

EEDAR predicts Nintendo dominance, weak GTA and Brutal Legend performance in October sales

So much for Sony's PS3 return to the top. PS3 will NEVER and I repeat NEVER catch up to Wii sales this generation. PS3 will be forced to end it's production prematurely and end up at the dismal and embarassing last place this generation. It will be known as the console that was a financial drain on Sony the whole generation...just like the PSP!

EA says Wii software performance weaker than anticipated

Why should Nintendo even care...3rd parties obviously didn't start caring and releasing quality products on Wii until lately. Also, this is what they deserve for abandoning Nintendo and Sega and sleeping with Sony during their reign. I say Konami, EA and whoever deserves what they get; and I WISH they lose more money next year!!! Wii owners will never trust their crap again!

Konami forecasts 82 percent decline in net income

Maybe they should finally port MGS4 to the 360 and reduce their staunch support for the lowest userbase console. Honestly, it's Konami's damn fault for releasing too many big budget games on a system that's in last place and ignoring the leading consoles this generation. Maybe if they start bleeding red they would finally get smart and give their full support in making games for 360 and Wii. It's a tough lesson and hopefully Konami will learn from their mistakes!!!

Ignition: Muramasa sales 'in line with expectations'

Oct 25th 2009 2:44AM (Joystiq)
yeah boom blox boomed so hard according to sites that want sorry $ony to regain their place so much that it sold a million copies worldwide!!! Actually I shouldn't say sorry $ony as I might finally have a game in U2 I would like to play on the system for a while. My PS3's been relegated as an overpriced Blu-ray player in my house since I haven't really found a game I'd like to play on the system until U2 came out!!! Oh here's the link: http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=13684®ion=All that shows how much boom blox sold!!!

oh another good thing my PS3 is marginally better than my Wii is streaming Naruto episodes online but it is only marginally better!!!
