Joyswag: Win this $5K dollar gaming rig from Falcon Northwest

Nov 20th 2007 6:08PM (Joystiq)
My current rig is fairly decent, sporting an 8800 GTS. But Crysis makes it sad. I NEED MOAR!

Says y'all. I went to the Wii launch party in NYC in Times Square, and it was one of the coolest things EVER.

Bethesda designer makes Portal level

Nov 5th 2007 1:49PM (Joystiq)
An excellent puzzle, and I recommend everyone who has played Portal on the PC to give it a try. It's more difficult than anything found within the actual game, including Advanced, IMO.

The gimmick is a rotating room, which is quite well-done. The hardest part of the puzzle is an energy ball deflection, which has a very elegant (though complex) solution. However, due to the rotating room mechanic, the hit detection on the walls is quite iffy, and many people are solving it by "getting lucky" and managing the send the energy ball every which way until it kind of glitches and activates the sensor. Do yourself a favor and solve it for real; there is no need to set off the ball at anything other than right angles.

The only other complaint is that apparently the designed used non-standard surfaces, and sometimes a portal will not stick to a surface it should stick to. This is rather rare, though, and not a deal-breaker.

I highly recommend this! Go for it. And don't give up.

You're an idiot. Blogs FIND THINGS ON THE INTERNET. Even from a news site as prestigious as Joystiq, at least 70% of articles are compiled from other places in which they were found first.

They are not entitled to credit you. You did not make these videos. For all you know, they didn't even find them through the pathetically written Destructoid. There is absolutely no plagiarism in this article, and it's written a hell of a lot better than your amateurish prose. Go troll someplace else.

Final Fantasy retrospective: Part VIII

MMOs in general hold little interest for me, because I do not find the endless cycle of "get more levels and gear so you can fight to get more levels and gear" to be enjoyable. Contrary to what was said by some idiot above, however, FFXI (Chains of Promathia in particular) has an incredibly detailed and involved plot, surpassing many single-player entries in the franchise. It is THIS aspect, along with fulfilling teamwork in mind-numbingly difficult battles, that kept me going. Once I finished the storyline and messed around a bit, I was done.

But it was one hell of a good time. Screw other MMOs and their collection-based mental trap BS.
