Why do people watch star trek to the point of obsession DrXym?
Why do people watch Lost or 24 to the point of obsession?
Why does anyone do anything?
Because it's fun maybe? I'd hardly call Gundam pointless. Alot of the original UC stories from the 80's were actually quite good. It was an interesting experiment to combine hard science fiction with the already popular Japanese giant robot plotline. I'm not too big on the newer non UC gundam stories though, since they tend to be a little more fanciful, but I think it's a bit harsh to dismiss all of the gundam mythology as worthless.
With that said I’d like to check out this game. I don’t know if it will be any good considering 90% of the gundam games released are crap, but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. What I really want is another Mechwarrior game. What gaming god do I have to pray to to get another one of those released?
Agreed Jay, IMO Link's Awakening trumps all the others. It was just such a bizarre tale. It was a very different story from the usual Zelda/Triforce/Gannon arc, and the music was awesome. I want to collect an orchestra of instruments and wake the Wind Fish all over again.
If you haven't figured it out yet, Joystiq's one purpose in life it to spur on flame wars. Give up trying to have a meaningful debate here. The posts seem tailored toward this type of comment thread.
That brings back memories. Particularly the TMNT co op beat em up game. I probably unloaded a small fortune on that game. I wish they would make more co op beat em ups for the consoles. Actually I wish Sega would get around to making a new Streets of Rage game. Those were so fun. Then agian the new versions of Final Fight and NARC totally sucked. Final Fight Streetwise ruin Cody's character IMO and NARC was just embarrassing. I'd hate to see Streets of Rage get the same type of treatment.
I had heard a rumour that Atlas was bringing Luminous Arc stateside. Can anyone confirm that. The only reason I'm really interested in the game is becuase Yasunori Mitsuda is composing for the game. In any event it would be nice to have another DS strategy RPG.
Oh my God. It's the end of the world. Nobody will like the Wii now. It's doomed. I need to recoup my losses. I better quickly sell this console that I love so much and play with my friends on a daily basis. Oh wait, I'm too busy playing it all the time to care.
I think Crushed might have hit the nail on the head BTW.
This is exactly the type of the games Wii needs. The Wii is a social console. It really only gets a work out when I have company over. The only thing I play by myself is Zelda. Red Steel and Excite Truck split screen is fun when I have my gaming friends over, but I really want more casual stuff besides Wii Sports that I can pull out when non-gaming friends come over. I think Wario Ware will do well since it's so easy to just pick up and play. Girls in particular loved Wario Ware when I showed it to them on the GBA.
Why did people expect Dragon Warrior to be on the PS3? That would be an odd match up considering the fact that DQ games have always sacrificed graphics for superior gameplay. DQ8 being an exception to the rule. I think the DS is just the right fit for the DQ franchise.
Nobody meantioned Suikoden 1 and 2 soul reaver or legacy of kain: blood omen.
Suikoden 2 is the best purchase I ever made. Not only is it the best game in the series, it has also more than doubled in value. Lowest price on Amazon currently is $130. That just the cd. Mine is mint with book and original case. I think I could sell it for about $200 bucks if I wanted to, which I never will. Brand new in the palastic goes for about $380-$580. That's really insane.
arg!, it's because people want to believe. I'd love it if a game could give me the same feeling I had when I played Chrono Trigger. No RPG has come close. Chrono Trigger is like the Starcraft of Japanese RPGs.
As far as I know it's actually 3 of the team members from Chrono Trigger working on the game: Akira Toriyama, Hironobu Sakaguchi, and Nobuo Uematsu. They are all incredible heavy weights. Of course, alot what made the Chrono Series unique should be credited to Yasunori Mitsuda (who did the majority of the score) and Masato Kato (who was the game's scenarist, and did the entire plot of the sequel). Both of whom are not working on Blue Dragon.
