So is this like Damnation? At least in concept of gameplay? I read an article in Play magazine about this new game coming out which they basically categorized as a "vertical FPS", which sounds kinda similar on the surface with Dark Void. Damnation's vibe is more of a steampunk meets old west thing, but I'll check Dark Void out, too I guess...

I'd have to add the recently released trailer for Speed Racer (among others I can't remember now). It had the perfect mix of energy, awesome visuals, and music, all the while stoking my nostalgia fire. The trunk scene with Spridle and Chim-Chim was pitch-perfect, and the race scenes look straight out of the cartoon, just fine-tuned.

Oh, and the trailer for No Country for Old Men. Oh oh - and the trailer for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - genius. Plus, the Dark Knight. Also, The Savages. And There Will Be Blood. etc.

Man, this really gives me the heebie-jeebies. I haven't played the game, but from everything I've read and heard this probably isn't something you want anyone under 18 playing. Young kids are impressionable, and the realistic games they're being served, when not strictly monitored by their parents, can shape younger children's thinking. Like I said, that kind of thing will happen when it's unchecked, but the same effect can happen if you're talking about a punk kid from down the street, or a good for nothing uncle instead of a video game.

The more disturbing aspect of this, to me, is that the video game industry has improved its stable of lobbyists, and is nipping at the heals of the music and movie industries, at least in terms of their sphere of "influence" in law-making circles.
