Carmack blows minds with id Software's Rage, running on iPhone at 60fps with 'megatextured' graphics (video)

@Namarrgon Yes, but the market is demonstrably there for PCs. Android, not so much. Not to mention the fact that it's not so easy to make output settings on a mobile game tailorable by the user.

@Lethallax Think of all the gaming you've missed out on by never buying a Game Boy or DS, then.

@bob1000 Since HSPA+ is an inexpensive and simple upgrade to existing HSPA equipment, the situation is not analogous to their original 3G rollout. I don't know that AT&T will make target to have HSPA+ rolled out entirely by the end of the year, but I'd lay odds that I'll be enjoying it on my iPhone before the first LTE phone is released by Verizon.

@iamajim Verizon already has the highest rates, even without the iPhone.

@Gobot Why shouldn't they keep reporting it when their ever-gullible readers keep believing them?

@Inspector Gadget80 The Captivate is a very good Android phone, and the Aria is no slouch either, especially if you're one of the many people who haven't warmed up to tabletphones like the Evo.

@bob1000 My problem comes when people (not you) make blanket statements like "AT&T drops calls all the time" and lead other people, who may live in good coverage areas, to believe the same will be true for them. And I've a strong feeling that a lot of the bile directed AT&T's way on sites like Engadget comes from group think, and a sort of received wisdom of people who may not even have used one themselves.

@bob1000 I wish people would quit acting like everyone everywhere has the same results. I've used AT&T for over two years and have dropped precisely one call. I was on the highway at the time and probably transitioning between towers, at that.

I've carried my AT&T phone all across New England, and aside from a dead spot here and there -- which even Verizon has, despite their marketing to the contrary -- their coverage for me has been stellar.

@bcheng74 It's worth noting that the AT&T iPhone 4 is HSPA+ compatible, meaning it will actually be a bit faster than Verizon's initial LTE rollouts. Assuming, that is, that the Verizon iPhone comes this year, which I still see as a very, very distant possibility.
