Got this game during the PLAY promotion for 7.50. And it was worth it for a sidescroller that I enjoyed. A little reptile towered the end but the boss battles are AWESOME! Wayforward also happen to be the developers working on Silent Hill Book Of Memories. This game makes me feel like they could nail a great VITA full fledged title.
@IslandLife I think that the reason they may have left out part 4 is because it was not originally intended to be a silent hill game. It was changed during production to help sales. Here's a quote from an interview with the developers:
"GW: So the series is getting larger, gaining more momentum, and was coming out on a yearly basis, right?
Akihiro Imamura: Well, keep in mind SH4 was not originally suppose to be a Silent Hill.
"Akira Yamaoka: We did see a significant increase in popularity after the first game and even more so after the second. Originally the intention was not to make SH3 a direct sequel to the first game. In fact, the scenario was completely different, but fans seemed to want to tie up some loose ends, so we tried that, even though some on the staff did not agree with the decission."
Regardless, this delay is a bummer, and yes, I wouldn't mind having an HD version of Part 4 as well!
Yeah it sucks... But as 26 year old who got Twisted Metal 2 as his first PSX game, and Twisted Metal Black for his first PS2 game, I can stand 4 more months to make the greatest game of my childhood even better.
Since my birthday is in October, I originally hoped to get this game as a gift from my girlfriend, and with this Valentine's Day release date, it can still happen, and I get a BETTER game. WIN, WIN!
Sadly my dad passed away about 3 years ago at the age of 49. I miss him very much, and even though I lived with my from 7-16 when they divorced, I got to see him enough, and he was the main supporter of my gaming habit, getting my brother a I a NES (with power pad), ps1 and ps2 (both with twisted metal FTW!), and my first PC.
I moved back in with him when I was 16, and didn't care for school at the time, but he kind of knocked responsibility into me and I'll always be grateful for that. He passed away while I was in community college, but in a way it increased my resolve to accomplish the things I know would make him proud. I'm in my final year of university about to get my BA in liberal studies and my teaching credential, and I attribute a lot of my success to the time I spent with him. He was just as badass as The Duke!
And Aquacharger, don't feel bad about the comment, if anything, it brings back the joy I got from the day the Diablo II: Lord Of Destruction expansion came out, and my friends picked me up to go get their copies from FRYS. I remember telling my dad while he was changing the oil on his truck, and like the true badass he was, pulled out sixty bucks on the promise that I helped him to work on the truck as soon as I got back! Total badass!!!
I usually don't have many nice things to say about gamestop, but this is an exception.
. I remember Babbage's at the mall, since I once bought One Unit Whole Blood there, and it became my favorite pc game of all time. I was only about 12 years old when I was balls deep into Duke Nukem 3D on my first home PC. Duke Nukem Forever was announced, but at that time I was entirely too young to pre-order it, but my best friend and I saved the issues of PC gamer and PC Accelerator that had brief paragraphs on it with absolutely no screenshots. I told myself that when the game came out, I would ask my dad to buy it for me. I'm 26, now and getting the game for myself on release date. Sill have the same best friend that mocked me all these years for waiting for this game, but I will be having the last laugh!
I briefly considered getting the "Balls Of Steel Edition" for PS3, but I decided against it on the grounds that my 12 year old self would kick my own ass for not playing the game on PC. But it's true. If anything, for the future mods alone...
My little brother was looking up videos of an Alien game that was supposed to be released for DS and it had this badass song on the gameplay video.
I have faith that the Gearbox and Creative assembly won't be the same old bad alien game. The original PC version of AvP was awesome, I still fire up the Coop survival mode once in a while when lanning at friends.
