Dragon Age 2 abducted from Steam, EA points finger at 'restrictive' terms of service as the culprit

Sep 2nd 2011 8:58AM (Joystiq)
So, I just logged into Steam with the purpose of buying this game, checked my wishlist, and DA2 is simply a broken link!

If EA thinks they can strong-arm me into using their second rate virtual store, forget about it. This is a company that has exhibited too many anti-consumer tactics in years past to be trusted with something like digital ownership, server authentication, etc.

Plus, I use Steam. I have zero desire to migrate to another service just because EA says so.
With the minefield of DRM and shoddy distribution in the PC gaming world, Steam is a true oasis: an iTunes for games. I think this is a miscalculation on EA's part to ignore how many gamers embrace the mantra of "Steam or The Pirate Bay."

Battle Chess checking in to PC, iOS - get pawned this summer

May 13th 2011 12:47AM (Joystiq)
It says PC, but I wonder if that means they're doing a Mac version. I have many childhood memories playing the black and white Battle Chess on my school lab's Macintoshes back in the day... good times.

If it's on iOS, it should be a short stretch to bring to OSX, since they're both based on similar Unix kernels and OpenGL 3D.

AT&T 'hits' back at Verizon's Map for That campaign with an 'ad' of its own

At least make factual statements. ETF starts at $175 and goes down each month you have it.

27-inch iMacs having performance issues?

Watching that video makes me think that perhaps it's a driver/vid card issue. Flash runs just fine in Leopard for me on an Nvidia card.

This is pretty hilarious. A new product has an issue and people dogpile on it because it's Apple. All I know is that Snow Leopard is running amazingly on my MBP and shows no signs of sludging up, unlike the Windows box I switched from.
Yeah, Windows 7 is slick and I Bootcamp/VMWare to it when needed, but I'm so much more productive and less likely to want to smash my machine open when running OSX.
Computers will always have problems, even ones made by Apple. Good thing Apple has the best customer support in the business.

Apparently, to certain Engadget readers, free HD porn is more important than water.

It's easy with a small population packed tightly together. The US is spread out over an enormous area with lots of aging rural infrastructure.

Lol... if you hit a pedestrian it's your fault, period. They always have the right of way. Enjoy your jail sentence, asshat.

Rhapsody App approved by Apple: 8 million tracks streaming to the ether (update: video!)

Sep 10th 2009 3:06PM (Engadget)
Oh crescent... haha.
Rhapsody isn't Apple. It's actually an iTunes competitor... and a crappy one at that. I tried it a few years back and was appalled.
Good luck canceling your subscription, too. You have to call in. I got some Indian guy spending a good 30 minutes trying to talk me out of it in pseudo-English. "Sir, ah yew ah moozeek lohver?" Priceless.
