PlayStation 3 gets Amazon Instant Video ... kinda out of nowhere
Apr 4th 2012 7:51AM (Joystiq)BUT
Everything is 720p...very disappointing to have a new HD video app limited to 720p. After the dazzling high quality of Vudu's 1080p HDX, it's hard to put Amazon in the same league. Very disappointing.

Jul 3rd 2011 7:04PM (Joystiq)Today is a useful, lightweight calendar app for the Mac
May 19th 2011 9:21AM (TUAW.com)Fantastical and Today both cannot edit events, I don't know why this huge omission is not centered on more when I read reviews of both. You have to launch iCal to edit which defeats the whole point of either app.

May 10th 2011 10:32PM (TUAW.com)The Daily gets 800K downloads but loses $10 million this quarter
May 7th 2011 10:55AM (TUAW.com)The Daily is fantastic and when I see people say "hmmm...$39 for year...I don't know..." I am thinking..really? This is a daily, interactive, text, video, multimedia experience with top notch journalism and reporting..I just see it as a real bargain. It is NOT for everyone. If you are a geek mainly are looking for tech news, then the appeal will be minimal, but if you want to learn more about the world and get a real exploration of current news and issues, it's very educational and entertaining. It has been especially great lately..it is really hitting it's stride with features and reporting. Plus it's good to support this kind of publication, would like to see more. Where else can you get a packed DAILY media experience that costs half a million dollars to produce weekly, for like 75 cents a week?
New SSX drops 'Deadly Descents' subtitle
Apr 7th 2011 4:00PM (Joystiq)How about "SSX 2012"?
Amped did have a real SSX feel..very cool game.
I do hope SSX does get back to its roots. I am tired of drab brown/grey colors and modern warfare dire-ness. Lets make it pop and bring on the day-glo!
And please include the N.E.R.D "Rockstar" remix. Just for old times sake. Or maybe, just for me.
Time Warner Cable iPad app drops channels under programmer pressure
Apr 1st 2011 10:00AM (TUAW.com)I received the email from Time Warner and it was pretty refreshing to see how sternly it was worded from a corporate entity. They did not hold back.
Although it was a bit ironic pointing a finger and saying networks were "solely focused on finding additional ways to reach into wallets" since after I pay my huge digital cable/DVR/digital phone/road runner Time Warner bill, there is little left in my actual wallet to reach for.
Still, I do find the app amazing and such a great perk, I hope they do expand to many channels...it's very cool to have a portable wi-fi streaming HD TV on the iPad for sure.
