'Pokemon Conquest' brings Nobunaga's Ambition stateside on June 18

Apr 4th 2012 9:46AM (Joystiq)
@Roto13

I haven't watched Naruto in a while. I got bored of that show. However, I'm not happy that people use that as a benchmark of bad anime. It's not that great, but there's worse. Anyway...

No, I think the Japanese names of Pokemon are just as painful in Japanese as they are in English. I probably should have worded it better but I did indeed say that the names were just as child-friendly in either language, although Pokemon in Japanese isn't exactly what a western audience would call mature. I guess that is because Pokemon is for children, no matter what side of the world you're on.

As for the other Nobunaga's Ambition games, well, I believe there were some translated later on, but I was referring to the NES titles (which, true, wasn't very clear).

'Pokemon Conquest' brings Nobunaga's Ambition stateside on June 18

I still think the game looks lame. But that's just my opinion. I just don't care about Pokemon enough to care for a crossover with a somewhat obscure RPG (considering it was only ever released in Japan). I can't wait to see how Nintendo explains what Nobunaga's Ambition is. They'll probably rename everyone and make it more child-friendly. You know, try to shoehorn it into existence in the west. Oh, sorry, they already did that. It's called Pokemon (to be fair, the only real difference is in the names. Child-friendly it is whether in English or Japanese).

Microsoft goes baller with chromed out 360 controllers

Special edition? Yeah, if you like fingerprints and vacuumised metal that'll disappear faster than light. Great idea to put chrome on a controller....

Sega canceling games, cutting jobs in US and Europe to restructure [update: SOA statement]

Mar 31st 2012 2:12AM (Joystiq)
Maybe they'd be doing better if they put out better games. That being said... Phantasy Star Online 2. Come on, Sega. If you localise it, it might help you make some damn money for once. Or, you know, make more GOOD Sonic games. Generations was actually enjoyable.

Kid Icarus: Uprising prototype began on Wii and PC

Mar 30th 2012 9:08AM (Joystiq)
Am I the only one who is keen to play a PC version of this game?

Actually, I've pretty much completely lost interest in Kid Icarus: Uprising now, and though I keep buying DS games that I missed or cheap 3DS games (just to build a library - there aren't a ton of great games on the system yet), my 3DS still isn't getting heaps of use. I don't really like how my thumb always slips off the damn circle pad or how terrible the screen quality is (240p. I will harp on about it forever). I guess I was just spoilt with the Vita.

Anyway, back on topic, I'd love to have seen this game on other platforms. It seems suited best to the 3DS, but I think it could have had its place on the Wii too.

Atlus PSP titles heavily discounted on PSN

Mar 30th 2012 4:42AM (Joystiq)
Of course, this sale is exclusive to America. Go figure. RAGE.

Actually, I bought Persona for full price recently, because I wanted to play through all four games. I'm sure the later ones are good but Persona 1 is, well.... Not so good. Which sucks, because it cost me almost $20. It was NZ$18.90. Disgaea, at that price, was much more worth it. It's held up a lot better.

Unchained Blades going to 3DS and PSP as a digital release

Mar 30th 2012 4:36AM (Joystiq)
It's nice that it's getting released at all, and I'm more interested in it as a cheap downloadable title than a full-priced retail game (even though I do prefer physical copies of games). I don't know if either of the two versions is superior, but I'd prefer the PSP version since I tend to take my Vita with me more than my 3DS. That said, I would mind it on the 3DS either but argh, that 3DS screen! It saddens me.

As for dubs or subs, I lIke both. Even if the dub isn't great, it will help appeal to a wider audience. Sometimes there are dubs I don't like but most I do like. I really get sick of people saying dubs suck or sucks suck. They're both good, and having both is even better.

I wouldn't mind putting an arrow in your other knee.

Jordan Mechner finds original Prince of Persia source code

Mar 30th 2012 4:19AM (Joystiq)
Oh come on, we all know that what he really wants to do is sign all of those games and stick them on eBay to make ludicrous amounts of money. The Prince of Persia thing is just a publicity stunt.

I'm joking, by the way, although I wouldn't be surprised if he did that.

Report: Hackers can pull credit card info from old Xbox 360 hard drives

Mar 30th 2012 4:14AM (Joystiq)
And people gave Sony crap. Sure, it was one massive problem, but no credit card info actually got leaked, and yet Microsoft has had a ton of smaller security issues that may have been reported on but not blown out of proportion like the PSN hacks, when essentially, they could be just as problematic.

Still, anyone who is dumb enough to just trade in a console without wiping it of data securely before-hand is asking for trouble. It would be nice if consoles had an option to securely erase data but it does take significantly longer. More people need to be aware that such an option exists, though. It's not a perfect solution, even if you do many writes, but it's better than leaving it as is.

A lot of people often sell the systems with their accounts still intact, too. They want to sell their systems along with any digital titles they bought. Good idea to make more money, but in general, a very stupid practice which no one should undertake.
