EA still in running for The Consumerist's Worst Company in America

Mar 28th 2012 3:47AM (Joystiq)
I could think of worse companies than Sony to put on that list. I also would have loved to see EA vs GameStop instead. The irony would have been incredible.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is free-to-play, also coming to smartphones

Mar 26th 2012 7:26PM (Joystiq)
Not only was this the first MMO that I was actually willing to pay for, but now I have NO reason not to buy it. I can chuck it on every computer I own, on my Vita, and even my iPhone. I'm just ecstatic about it. Hell, now even if it doesn't come outside of Japan, we'll all be able to play it anyway. Hopefully the game will do well. I like the free-to-play approach, too. It's what got me into DC Universe Online. Damn it, I want to play the game already!

Rumor: Stripped down Xbox planned for 2013

I could actually see this happening. I wouldn't be surprised of this is what all the rumours have been about.

Assassin's Creed 3 for Wii U puts the Animus, weapons in your hands

Mar 26th 2012 7:00PM (Joystiq)
This sounds pointless. So instead of using the d-pad or a radial menu that takes all of TWO buttons (what a big difference!), you have to use a touchscreen on an awkward controller. As for a map.... I guess they've never heard of minimaps. Even though, you know, Assassin's Creed ALWAYS has one. That's a lot more. convenient than taking my eyes off of the screen. That's the whole point of a minimap in the first place.

Politicians propose cigarette warning labels for games

@Homeimps

Thanks for that, but I'm an adult myself. I just don't think anyone needs to be forced into anything. They should be able to make decisions for themselves, but I think a lot of people make the wrong decisions. These things happen though, I guess. Nobody is perfect. That being said, it gets annoying when people continually buy their stupid children games that aren't suitable. Then we have to put up with annoying children online. Or that, in relation to the article, people will keep smoking even though they know it is bad (and my dad would be one of these people).

About my own parents, my dad is just overly generous, although my mum would not ever buy a game that is age-inappropriate

I just thing that the whole idea is stupid. It's like the graphic and disgusting cigarette packets here in New Zealand. It's not stopping smokers from buying them. It's just making the rest of us nauseous. Even if they had the old, simple warnings, there would be no more smokers than there are with the graphic images on packaging.

More music videos coming to 3DS today

Mar 22nd 2012 6:17PM (Joystiq)
The Kid Icarus anime is terrible (and I like anime AND dubs - also, the animation is good. I'm not gonna hate on those great production companies. The anime is just kinda lame, not very interesting, and uncohesive), Shaun the Sheep is so short and doesn't even have the proper intro, they have constant Zelda symphonic videos (which are good, but man, I'm sick of seeing them now, after almost a year), and the rest are just crappy music videos. Oh, and they had the cartoon lizard, whatever his name was. Which was cool, but I just can't stand 240p videos. The 3DS screen is horrible quality.

I know it's optional, but..... WHY? It's terrible. They could at least try to do something good.

'Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two' coming to Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360

Mar 22nd 2012 6:10PM (Joystiq)
Bought on sight. For PS3. The Wii has started to annoy me. Ever since Skyward Sword, I've been wanting to take a hammer to that thing. Except that that would be a stupid move. I've orders the original Epic Mickey to play first but I'm still excited for this. And ZOMG OSWALD THE RABBIT. Hell yes. I hope for Move support.

And let the Wii version be inferior. >=D

Mass Effect 3 player feedback spawns 'content initiatives,' details in April

Mar 22nd 2012 6:00PM (Joystiq)
I think it should be obvious that this was planned from the get-go. Give people a game that doesn't satisfy at the end so that they can complete the ending later on and make monies of all of us suckers.

That being said, I don't have my copy of Mass Effect 3 yet. I'll be getting g next week. Even if the ending sucks though, it IS just a game. People could, you know, calm down. They DO pack a lot of content into Mass Effect though, so the DLC is at least reasonable, even if they charge. Unlike Capcom, Bioware doesn't owe anyone anything. As far as we know, the content isn't on the disc, for example.

Activision registers ActivisionNews.com, trying to put us out of work

Mar 22nd 2012 5:54PM (Joystiq)
Oh boy, my favourite company is going to start posting well-constructed, unbiased and completely interesting news stories. I can't wait. I'm so excited that I could just punch Bobby Kotick right in the face.

Politicians propose cigarette warning labels for games

Mar 22nd 2012 5:48PM (Joystiq)
This is just stupid. It's no even true. Anyway, there are already plenty of dumb parents that go ahead and buy games not suitable for their children. That's why there are so many annoying little kids on Halo and Call of Duty. Do they really think this will change anything? Heck, even my dad has bought R18 games for my little brother. People like that are stupid. But it's up to the parents to have half a brain, not for some stupid politicians to try to warp people's minds with false information.

Also, it ruins the box art.
