What's wrong with having a wireless reciever plugged into one of the two usb ports in the back of the wii? Last i checked they havent been used for anything yet (well i guess that keyboard)... its not like they were saying it had to be plugged in via a wire to the wii, just a reciever... of course i am sure i will find out it is 5 lbs and tips the thing over, or doesn't fit if the wii is on its side or something.

any idea on the power of the motors? that thing would need a pretty regular recharge if they need the power of even the old DFP for ps2.

never bothered to touch those options because i had never seen it to be a problem with any other flash object.

my playback is ok... but Viddler vids in general are really starting to bug me because whenever an embedded viddler vid comes up it takes control of my webcam and i have to restart my computer in order to use it again.

not to nitpick, but yes, portal was completely linear - because you were in a rat-maze that was designed to direct you specifically in one direction. You were being experimented on with one terminus, but I have watched more than 10 people, gamers and non, play through or parts of portal, and on first play through i have seen 10 completely different ways of solving many of the puzzles presented in portal.

I have also found, though, that lately i have enjoyed the games with one option much more lately. the story telling tends to get more attention, and often i find many fewer compromises than the sandbox games.

ok, it looks awesome, no big surprise, but still good to see.
however, is anyone else a little disappointed by the fact that they seemed to just copy the death animations from 4? I really don't mind that it is obviously more of the smae, 4 is fantastic and i think they are doing the right thing by refining that model, but i already got tired of watching the line of zombies/spaniards fall like they were punched in the gut, and it's really obvious in the second vid where the sniper rifle goes through two simultaneously... it just feels a little lazy... the go through the trouble of making a graphical effect to show walls getting shot at, with no shoot through mind you, but they dont seem to do any more that RE4 in terms of positional shot discretion (re4 is great, i'm glad again)... All i'm saying is that this entire "next-gen console" thing feels like a 1.5 to me, not just the 2 gamecubes + duct tape. Sure all of the games and updates have sharper (though darker and harder to see) graphics, and the worlds are bigger and more intricate, but i am still waiting to have a "next-gen" experience that really was not possible before... cause really, if the ps2 or xbox or anything just had a higher "cart sizes" (for lack of abetter term) i don't see what couldn't be done here.

the game is going to be awesome.

(ok rant back on: i realize they are 'zombies', but there is still a whole lot of walking slowly towards a bottleneck to be shot... but to be fair, as noted above, the players weren't so great... never forget the old adage... "never bring a knife to a chainsaw fight" :)

Not to rile the masses with mycological talk and veer too far from the suspension of disbelief/alternate reality that is this game (and boy am i excited by it) but before you start to rag on about fungi not having brains and not weilding spiked clubs you should look into the research that is going on now by Paul Stamets and other Mycologists.
I've seen mycellium do some amazing things (like solve mazes and remember solutions to problems) and there is a supposition that is growing in many that some fungi can be classified as sentient. (Mycellium knows you are there, when you pass it rises up to meet you and to collect food from the debris fields we create by walking).

alright, maybe i don't have a response for the club comment, but mycellium, just a single cell wall thick, can grip onto and hold up to 30,000 times its mass, so if one were to craft a small club i am sure we could find examples of its use :)

anyway, super excited for this game. and love the design choices i have seen so far.

I actually like the Europe map version better than the US one... lots more interesting routes, and you know, it's always more exciting to get from madrid to moscow than going to nebraska :)

fantastic game though, if you are looking for something to do with the family and they won't join you in some wii sports or rock band, here is a much cheaper option :)
