Microsoft demonstrates Kinect-enabled shopping cart

Feb 29th 2012 2:46PM (Joystiq)
About the only practical application I can think of (as a grocery clerk) is to put your small child or baby carriage in the basket and get the shopping cart to babysit them as you walk through the store doing more productive things.

Actually when I think about how normal carts block isles when people move them, how is it better when I don't know where the cart will stop as I walk around not caring where I left it?

Dragon Age anime film due in spring 2012

Feb 2nd 2012 2:05PM (Joystiq)
Hmmmm.... I never heard of T.O Entertainment. But FUNimation, in my mind, has got a lot of talent behind their music, voice work and sound departments.

From what I could piece together in the japanese theatrical trailer.. I kind of like the story about hunting blood mages. If only I could have seen a talking character animated for their dialogue, then I might have sympathy for the animation overall. I'd like to eventually hear the voices and score behind the scenes that were shown, hopefully in english.

Samus morphs into an incredible action figure

I'm quite satisfied with AmiAmi, they're occasional the cheapest for imports. Though on two occasion they had to send me notifications that my payment was past due on pre-orders (had to pay manually from paypal's website when the order was ready to ship).

And Figma's are awesome. Their small, light, and very pose-able with the stand. I currently have King Kazma crouched sideways on my PS3 :3

Report: Skyrim PS3 patch out in Europe [update: patch notes released]

Nov 30th 2011 1:49AM (Joystiq)
Bethesda, when is the patch going to Japan? I ask because the only Skyrim I'm touching is EpicNameBro's awesome videos!

Yeah, haven't got time to play any games recently...

Dark Souls patch brings lots of tweaks, plenty of nerfs

Nov 23rd 2011 5:36PM (Joystiq)
Let's have some fun, it is Dark Souls! Yay!

...

Patch 1.6.1o1 - Fromsoft changes drop from Eternal Dragon (which is a bitch to get to). Cutting the dragon's tail nets you... a nerf gun! Yay!

Lord Gwen is pissed about players who can parry his fiery sword of death, so at 25% remaining health he gets... a gatling gun! Whoop!!

It's Fromsoft's game, they can nerf and patch whatever the hell they want. I'd still play it!

Huh? I was promised Run D.M.C 's "It's Tricky..." what a rip of.....

0:52 - ... to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time ...

Oh, there it is. Okay, watching trailer... Remembers seeing those Uber moves in SSX Tricky... Uhh, okay. I'll bite if I have the time to play this when I comes out.... February 14th. Sure.

Kojima on MGS5: 'We'll probably have to make it at some point'

Nov 21st 2011 8:16PM (Joystiq)
I can probably trust Konami to pick a new Team Kojima director. I'd even appreciate a rebirth of Metal Gear mechanics moving away from MGS stealth. The current system of stealth + combat tends to heavily support lethal gameplay (which I like in other games) over traditionally stealthly gameplay (which I play MGS for).

There's a lot of guns to choose from which makes combat nicely varied, but there's usually a clear best-way to stealth (one-shot tranq-guns and slow LoS gameplay). Changing these core mechanics should make the whole game feel new.

Create an active, sprawling battlefield which tests the player. Understand how games can blend stealth and combat elements. Put the story into the game mechanics to dilute heavy narratives. Make Metal Gear a truely interactive, persistent affair which players are compelled to experience.

Build a place in your day for the MineCon keynote

I watched that opening ceremony at Haatfilms Youtube page and I thought it was a tribute to the real ceremony. It's pretty cool that was actual video.

It was a better quality video as well.

Watch Solid Snake peace walk through a village in HD

@Lucky48

Collecting and changing camo was a hassle in the first playthrough, that has to be noted.

But I feel once you start enjoying the experience, changing camo didn't matter because the gear/skills you get could dispatch/avoid enemies better. Then you don't need to camo stealth quite as much.

Hiding behind something or staying further away from patrols works just as well as being deadly close and camo stealth :)

I comment a little more below, but I certainly enjoyed replaying MGS3 :)

@adr916

Chronologically if you want to make sense of the story. Or in any order if you cannot be bothered getting all the games.

I've never tried playing the series in chronological order, even though Snake Eater was my first MGS. It's the most recommended game to play.

Playing chronologically means getting the story straight. IMO, a game should always strive to be "a stand alone that's not a stand alone". Meaning the story welcomes newcomer, yet rewards veterans. MGS4 heavily relies on the series history and is not recommended to play first. Peace Walker had a great stand alone story :)
