Sony reveals two PlayStation Suite-compatible Android tablets

Apr 26th 2011 11:43AM (Joystiq)
@baby sea tuna

You will be able to transfer across DSiWare licences from your DSi to the 3DS. But only when the eShop/Transfer Service goes live next month.

Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype Version launching with 3DS eShop

Apr 21st 2011 5:23PM (Joystiq)
@MaxFroth

Nintendo Points are dead. Everything will be real-world money on the 3DS and Nintendo's next home console.

As for paying for a demo... Minecraft. If Capcom goes down a similar route for Legends 3 then this could be interesting. Constant updates as the game goes along? Well worth $5-10. One would hope that at the end of it, Capcom would offer prototype owners some freebie or money off the actual game when it's released... But that's extremely doubtful.

Report: Game industry best at preventing sale of mature content to minors

Apr 21st 2011 10:27AM (Joystiq)
@Admiral White

It does. If you took what he said completely out of context.

He means that Wal-Mart are extremely interested in looking the other way when children try to buy "age-restricted" (not an accurate phrase, sorry, couldn't think of a better one for this scenario) material rather than turn down a sale like any responsible retailer would.

I would like to add that Wal-Mart's policy is most likely against the selling the said content to minors, however poor policy policing, training and/or a complete lack of due diligence from minimum wage employees are probably more accurate reasons why Wal-Mart let this happen. The bad press isn't worth a $60 or less sale.

Sony Japan: PSP Go shipments have ended

Apr 20th 2011 12:13PM (Joystiq)
@Hunter141072

Uhh, would like to point out that this is only the PSP Go which has ceased production. The PSP will live on with the continued production of PSP-3000 units.

Nice speech though. I liked the part where you didn't back up any of what you said with fact. Good job. A+.

Ubisoft officially unveils Kinect superhero fighter PowerUP Heroes

Apr 12th 2011 6:17PM (Joystiq)
What did I just watch? It's like what Hollywood THINKS games are like... Only it's from a games company. Ubiso-- Oh. Ohh... Yeah, this isn't going to be fantastic at all, is it?

Also, who has a giant 4:3 TV and a Kinect sitting on-top of it in what appears to be the world's largest (and emptiest) fast food restaurant storage closet in existence, it seems to be entirely there to store toilet rolls?

(Disclaimer: Nothing against Ubisoft, really. Love the Prince of Persia series. Sadly, their casual-oriented stuff is so... Well, pandering to the lowest common denominator that it hurts. "Imagine: Babyz". I mean, seriously? Why not just call it "Daw, look at the baby on the cover. That'll be $39.99 please.")

Nintendo distributing Solatorobo in Europe this year

Apr 12th 2011 6:03AM (Joystiq)
@Chaosjay

It's a natural overlap at the moment. There were still GBA games being released in the first 6-12 months of the DS' lifespan. Economic conditions were drastically different in 2004, as well... So Nintendo may not want to so easily discard the 100+ million DS owners out there who are more likely to shell out £30/$40 for a new game over £200/$250 for a new console. (Not like I've been saying since the start that the 3DS was over-priced -- especially outside America -- or anything.)

Still holding out for Layton 4 on DS, but if they decide to make Spectre's Flute for 3DS then I wouldn't complain. Don't see it happening, though. Do see Layton 4 and 5 being released about the same time in US/EU/AUS though. And I would much rather they take their time with localisation and produce a quality product as usual.

New Sonic the Hedgehog game revealed, speeding to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

Apr 7th 2011 10:02AM (Joystiq)
@FuriousMailman

Only it's not a joke. It's real, people fall for this over and over again.

It's even got to the point where people thought Sonic Colours was a good game. Sonic fans will now just roll over and accept "just barely mediocre" from SEGA. At least the die-hard 'classic Final Fantasy' fans ditched the series soon after they realised 'new Final Fantasy' was the way forward for the series. Sonic fans might need to think about doing the same.

New Sonic the Hedgehog game revealed, speeding to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

Apr 7th 2011 9:57AM (Joystiq)
@bshido

Going by every Sonic storyline ever written:

There's some Time-God/Monster which Dr.Eggman is using to take over the world, or "build Eggmanland" as they seem to have sanitized it to now. Eggman uses the time-god-monster to make time itself fold into itself, throwing New Sonic and Old Sonic into some Final Fantasy VIII-like time-compression world. And some-how by defeating the time-god-monster thing, the universe is saved and Old Sonic goes into a depression seeing how badly SEGA is going to treat him over the next 20 years of his existence. Perhaps there'll also be some sort of Old Eggman and New Eggman team-up in some ridiculous way.

Forza 4 pitch video pulled by Microsoft

Apr 3rd 2011 4:14AM (Joystiq)
@VeeDeeVee

It just fits with MS' policy of "Give America everything... Rest of the world? What are y--- Oh! Right... Give them just the basic stuff. What? Yeah, sure, charge them more for their Xbox Live as well, we're doing them a favour by supporting their region anyway."

Part-joking aside, this was most likely being shown internally to executives. A version of this video will also probably end up being shown at E3, probably truncated. Heaven knows Microsoft needs a good E3 showing this year... Sitting through that Kinect nonsense last year was an experience I don't want to repeat... Although I said that after the 2008 Nintendo conference... If anyone needs a reminder of that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XR7LaJLLf8

3DS Power Pak + review: a battery of tests

@SSUK

Oops, DS Lite should read "1000 mAh", not 100. My bad.
