It's good to see that the discourse here is still mostly filled with fanboy morons calling other people fanboy morons: It means I don't miss anything by skipping the comments section.

I for one am happy that they amended the list and let us know which (I knew one or two were coming out this week but I didn't know which ones; they're all out of the order in which they came to the pc) dlc packs are coming this week: OA & Pitt apparently.
I've tried them all and now that I have Broken Steel I'm probably only going to buy Point Lookout. I guess it's a good idea for them to break up the interesting releases with the less interesting ones.

Hearsay: Sony motion controller opens door for Wii-to-PS3 ports

Sep 17th 2009 3:58PM (Joystiq)
No more Heroes would fail miserably on the ps3.

It did well on the wii because it was the only original game with blood, cursing, and jr high style innuendo.
PS3 owners wouldn't put up with the barren sandbox, inconsistent combat, and tedious minigames.

Happy Batman Day! 'New free downloadable content coming soon!'

I haven't checked it out yet but I think there is a costume for home. I know there's a batcave and other stuff that you get for free when you pop in the game.

JBO: Joystiq Box Office, August 10 - August 14

I can't believe you're recommending Metropolitan. Not because it's slow paced (I can dig slow paced) but because it's just so awful.

It's a shallow script, about shallow trust-fund dbags, doing all the shallow crap they do to make themselves feel like their rich grandparents. That would've been okay (I can also dig a movie that has absolutely no likeable characters) if the acting was at least good but it was like watching a 5th grade play where the teacher asked the kids to re-interpret Pride & Prejudice if it took place in the 90's with even more self-important morons who inherited all their money.

There's one character in the whole movie that isn't completely dislikable (but you do feel sorry for her-to a point), and (though there aren't any openly gay characters) one actor who I wasn't 100% positive was gay in real life. Yes, the acting is that bad.

Go to IMDB and look at some of the quotes: I dare you not to vomit.

Seriously, one of the worst movies ever. Right up there with Epic Movie and Police Academy 5.

Poll: What do you think of the rumored PS3 Slim?

Aug 17th 2009 9:39AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Yea.
Most of my friends that are holding off on buying a ps3 are doing so either because of backwards compatibility and/or the price.

However, if there was a system that needed a whole new model and re-branding, it's the 360. I know more people holding off from buying a 360 because they're still scared of it spontaneously combusting on the shelf.

Great choices we've had this generation, huh?

The Next to Fall from Fall 09: Our Predictions

Aug 6th 2009 1:37PM (Joystiq)
Yea. That's the only one I care about, though Dante's Inferno does look pretty cool.

I think they forgot Fallout 3 GOTY. The 360 and PC versions will probably be out by October as planned but the PS3 version will probably be out next year. The first DLC pack hasn't even hit PSN.

Metareview: inFamous (PS3)

I'll reply.
I'll get behind LBP and Vakyria Chronicles. Also get Saints Row 2 if you like GTA but not GTA4; the dlc is skipable. Fallout 3 is quite fun too but most of the upcoming dlc is also skipable.

I would also have to recommend Warhawk. If you have a ps3, you may as well have warhawk. It's just fun, even if you're no good at it. You can download a demo for it too.

Other games to try the demo for: Killzone2, MGS4 & Online, anything Pixel Junk, echocrome, The Last Guy, Bioshock, and really anything that looks like it might be interesting. They're free; you may as well.

Metareview: inFamous (PS3)

Adam and Morgan also gave No More Heroes a 5 out of 5. A lot of reviewers gave that half-finished piece of crap good scores. That's when I started renting. However, I'm more inclined to blow off a game that's consistently scored badly than renting one that was consistently scored well.

I don't buy a game any more until I try it out. Wile I do still watch reviews for entertainment value (like Zero Punctuation), you can't exactly trust the opinion of the fanboy slobs that usually put them together.

That said, G4 is pretty entertaining. It's like a tv network that shows what CNN would become if Idiocracy became true. Look out for Chris Hardwick hosting Ow My Nuts, coming next month.

Rockstar announces GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony, coming to Xbox Live and retail compilation

What are you thinking Troy.
Swagman just lost the Fallout 3 dlc exclusivity and he needs something to rub in the faces of pc & ps3 owners.

It's okay Swagman he's only trying to scare you. And even if the rumors that the GTA dlc exclusivity is timed or this next mission pack is as crappy and overpriced as the last, just remind yourself that you still have Gears... You still have gears. Now wipe the tears off your keyboard and wrap another towel around your 360.

Final Fantasy XIII producer looking into downloadable demo for the West

May 7th 2009 11:23AM (Joystiq)
Trebek-
I'm glad someone shares my cynicism.

Nobody should have to pay anything for a demo and a good 90% of the crap they try and pass as DLC should be free or just additions to a real expansion pack. When you consider how overpriced most DLC is, ps3 owners should be ecstatic about not being able to get ripped off by R* & Bethesda. Of course you still have LBP & Burnout to prey on you with all of their overpriced crap.

It started a little before this generation but gamers are proving to be the biggest suckers in the world. It's no wonder self important lawyers and politicians use us as whipping boys when someone goes nuts.
The profits raped in by gameslop alone, show how easy it is to take advantage of the common gamer. Throw in a spontaneously combusting machine that sells like crazy and ridiculously overpriced dlc and I'm surprised gameslop doesn't try getting their victims to preorder bridges. It's as if gamers like being walked all over.

You also used to be able to get money for taking part in a beta; the times they are-a-changin'.
