I love how whenever there's a name protecting going on in the news everyone mentions Xerox as an example, cus it makes a lot of people like me in the UK puzzle our faces lol.

Some of the comments on the blogpost link are worrying, the more these people insist on policing the virtual world and internet the more I worry in the future about people insisting we have 'thought police' checking we're thinking whatever society claims to believe is best for us.

You know the references to 'Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrel' + 'Snatch' are there for a reason. You spend all the money, then one quiet day this criminal gang pays you a visit, ties you upside down, ties your parent down to use as a tee for the golf balls they hurl at your body demanding to know where their cash is before hurling a sharp spike at your stomach. Suddenly greed doesn't pay. Now of course that's a worse case scenario, but hardly worth the risk since some criminal gangs around England and Europe can be pretty rough, I'm sure those on the other side of the pond are familiar.

Only after reading the news here did it become clear what was really going on. Still with a protest called "anti-fur" it's little wonder confusion is happening.

Hi! Another Brit here.

Just want to repeat what my fellow countrymen are saying, it's flying over most people's heads. Only the media, church fanatics and people outside the UK are taking an active interest in this.

Actually I'm quite honoured to see that the game makes it all the way up to Manchester, cus us Mancs are sick of London always taking the spotlight. Really I think we should be more offended that despite it taking place in Britain it's from the eyes of a non-British character. :-/

Mate, Richard and Judy is a Channel 4 programme, not from good old Beebs. Still great to see RnJ covering second life, I've always enjoyed their chat show.

Macs would appear to be somewhat unheard of in Salford University (in Greater Manchester). I think the School of Arts has a couple, but otherwise my School of Computer Science and Engineering has sod all. However on the plus side quite a few of the computers duel boot into SuSe Linux. :-)

I'll just add in my 5.2 pence on the matter. It seems to be people over the side of the pond (America) have it worse off when it comes to the used games market. Here in Britain there are plenty of stores that sell second hand, in fact GameStation is one of the biggest that come to mind. You can get games in good condition, may have the manual if it's the right version, relatively few stratches and certainly I've never opened one to find it smelly... In addition the prices are very reasonable, the average new game may be around £50-30 while your average used game is around £15-2. The under £5 ones are the best deals.

I see the second hand market as a good thing, you get rid of your unwanted goods so somebody else can have them. It's recyling and it's good for the environment. Somebody gets some money from selling it, I save some money when buying it, everyone is happy except the developers. The truth is though I don't give shite about them, there will always be someone else buying the game on my behalf. I'm not too worried about the possible decline of the video games industry, they seem to be doing it pretty well themselves anyway.

Hurray for selfishness I say, it's the virtue of every good capitalist after all. :)

The BBC ought to licence the new Doctor Who series so American fans can finally watch it. Well that said they are going to release series 1 on DVD in American next Feb. But seeing how nobody showed any interest in broadcasting it maybe series 2 next year should bypass and be distributed through iTunes.
