Retro Studios taking a Metroid break

Aug 31st 2007 11:52AM (Joystiq)
D@mn you James, you literally took the words out of my mouth. Actually, you probably said it better than I did but you are 110% correct and well done mentioning the endless amount of Flight Simulator games that MS made for the PC. Funny how bighits doesn't mind the 4 Project Gotham Racing titles since the original Xbox came out.

Joystiq impressions: Super Mario Galaxy

I second that Jody. Tis a shame the DS and Wii have nothing new that we haven't seen countless times before. I mean, the touchscreen, motion control, and seperating a 20 year old controller design into 2 seperate parts have been done to death. WiiFit, blah, seen it before. God, Nintendo, as a shareholder and certified fanboy of yours, I am dissapointed with your inability to innovate and try something new.

Sony 'bringing home' E3 too, on PSN

Haha, Dave got scared of anonymous internet bullies and took his "diss" back and pretended he was being sarcastic.

@ BNinjaC

They are niche games for a reason, not supposed to appeal to everyone.

Metroid Prime 3 will not have online multiplayer

@ sirlaitier

"It's like you all bit into an apple and then complained that it didn't taste like an orange."

This line was so perfect it almost made me tear up knowing it came from someone who posts on a Joystiq thread seeing as I thought it was impossible for rational thought on here. I wholeheartedly expect to see this quote on several threads on this site because it has universal appeal.

Well done sirlaitier.

Metroid Prime 3 will not have online multiplayer

Jul 3rd 2007 10:34AM (Joystiq)
I tried my best to not post on this site but I had to say something to Crono...

Crono, I am also a die hard fanboy but let it go. Just because a previous version of the game had online multiplayer (a version of the game developed by a completely different studio) doesn't mean that the new version has to have it. Phantom Hourglass has online multiplayer but will you be this upset if the next console version of Zelda doesn't?

Everyone, I want you all to breath in, and breath out. If you want a fully functional online service so bad buy a 360. The Wii online plan will never satisfy you then and clearly Nintendo isn't as interested in it as you hope it would be.

Now, with that being said, I am going to go back to playing Scarface for the Wii and enjoy a solid single player experience because lack of online or HD graphics doesn't make or break my life which makes me a non-aggressive Nintendo fanboy unlike some of the other rabid fanboys.

Midway announces Game Party, cashes in on Wii minigames

@ Jason

The reason developers will continue to make games like Gears or Oblivion is the same reason that there are indie artists continuing to perform at dive bars across America even though Kelly Clarkson gets an easy route to the top of the charts, people are passionate about what they do and realize they don't need to sellout to fulfill this passion.

After Ico was made, do you think Team Ico said screw it, i'm making a collection of minigames, no, they made Shadow of the Collosus.

Not everyone is out just for money, artistic and epic games will always be made but it's the quick cash cows that will afford them that opportunity.

New games this week: The Darkness edition

Jun 25th 2007 2:46PM (Joystiq)
Yes Travis, Nintendo is late to the game with their online plan and in theory it shouldn't be a big deal since other companies have been doing it for a while but since all over this blog and many other places on the internet, the hot topic was Nintendo's online strategy with the Wii, shouldn't this game be a major release considering this will be the first signs of how the online strategy for the Wii will be?

If this game just flat out doesn't work well with WiFi, whether it be the friend codes or server issues, it will be a huge sign of things to come and could speak volumes for the future of the online plans of one of the biggest hardware developers in the industry.

I guess I am the only one who thought with all of these risks and unknowns invovled that it would be game of the week and not a Xbox 360 game no matter how good the Darkness appears to be.

But Travis, I appreciate you jumping down my throat and being nice and sarcastic especially considering my original post was filled with such anger, hostility, and rampant Nintendo fanboy-ness. Gotta love the anonymity of the internet.

New games this week: The Darkness edition

Jun 25th 2007 11:24AM (Joystiq)
Pretty interesting that Pokemon Battle Revolution isn't the game of the week since it is the first US online Wii game. No complaints, I mean it is a busy release week and all, but just interesting that the Darkness got game of the week.
