Rumor: Pictures show 'slim' PS3 model in production

May 14th 2009 10:28AM (Joystiq)
Most changes have already been made to the current SKU, whatever production cuts they would have been making, they already are, they only need to get rid of all the extra unused space tbh.

But makes sense I guess, worth considering, but is it worth changing your current PS3 for, especially if its any where near the price of the current models. Even a 25% price cut 'could be' too little to make a difference. Guess it depends on what is done.

Sony UK exec on DLC: 'Nothing is ever exclusive'

Nov 2nd 2008 11:13PM (Joystiq)
Fatman, Haze was not developed by Sony, nor did Sony fund it, it was up to free radical completly to either go multiplat or go exclusive, and after it flopped, they realised it made more sense to just leave it where it was.

New IPs can be a success, but it all depends on the originality of the game and amount of funding gone into it. Take Uncharted for example, or Resistance both excellent games, both funded by Sony. Last gen, Sony didn't have to worry much about first gen games being average, third parties were all for supporting the PS2.

You can tell Haze was lazily put together, so fail was inevitable, same with Lair, but spend as much time as Sony is on Killzone or on Resistance 2, and you expect a good or excellent game.

Take Killzone for example, last time around it flopped because it was a third party much like Haze, this time we expect something good because the company is under Sony, there is absolutly no reason for errors or mistakes considering Sony is pushing it as thier best title, they are marketing it to the max, they are proclaiming it this that and the other, and guerilla? Well they have spent more money on this then anything media related done before in thier country, they have Sony staff working on the project that know the PS3 software better then anyone. I 'EXPECT' an excellent game.

Molyneux: PS3 still waiting on defining title

Sep 20th 2008 8:07PM (Joystiq)
I was going to disagree when I started reading, but upon completly reading I realised that I was in the opposite state, I very much agree with you.

Halo defines the Xbox, the very name gets people excited and considerably, Mario titles and smash brothers is the defining title on Wii, while MGS4 and Uncharted may have both been excellent games, they aren't 'the PS3' like Sonic 'was Sega'.
