DS Fanboy Poll: Only for kids?

Jan 1st 2008 6:09PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
"Growing up ... just grow up enough so you have a salary that can get you the things you want. After that? Play, play and play."

My thoughts exactly, couldn't have said it better. I'm 44 and am finishing up Phantom Hourglass, my wife (37) is addicted to Brain Age 2 and my 15 year old son is playing Phoenix Wright T and T for the second time since he got it Xmas day. Heck, even my 62 year old mother-in-law was rocking Brain Age, Flash Focus and Clubhouse Games at our Xmas party. She never goes anywhere without her DS Lite. At least in my family the DS knows no age boundaries.

What did Santa Steve leave for you?

Santa was extra good to me. I got a 16GB iPod Touch. Yay!

DS Fanswag: Give thanks with this three-pack!

Nov 25th 2007 4:39PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I'm thankful for the chance to win some new DS swag, since my wife refuses to spend anymore money buying it for me, which pretty much guarantees a stocking full of quaint trinkets and aftershave this Christmas. But I'm still thankful for her despite it. :)

DS Daily: Family friendly

Nov 25th 2007 4:28PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Funny you should mention this topic. Just this past week, a 49 year old friend of my wife was asking about the DS, played my copy of Brain Age for a few minutes, and then bought a pink one a few days later. My mother-in-law, who is 62, also just picked up the Brain Age 2 bundle on Black Friday, along with copies Clubhouse Games and Flash Focus. As a bonus, she didn't much care for the Crimson/Black DS and traded me for my Onyx ;)! I myself am 43 and am a heavy DS gamer, but I've also previously owned every system from the original Game Boy on up. And of course my 15 year old son has a DS Lite (Polar White), too.

Third Party Apps ported to iPhone 1.1.1

Kudos to you and the rest of the team!

Wouldn't news about the iPhone be Apple news, since it is, um, an Apple product? This is the Unofficial Apple Weblog, after all. Not the Unofficial Mac Weblog. The company has become much more diversified in recent years so not every story is going to be Mac related. I have a Macbook, so I don't care about iMac stories either. I own a Nano so I don't care about iPod Touch stories. But I don't pule about them - I just choose not to read them. A quick look through the TUAW RSS feed shows that 6 out of the last 20 stories are about the iPhone. But that's to be expected as the iPhone is big news right now, and it's not just here. Take a look around sites like CNET, Information Week and Ars Technica as well and you'll see it's getting pretty wide coverage even on those general tech sites. Even more so with other Apple related sites like MACNN and Mac Rumors. So if you wanted to avoid iPhone news you'd pretty much have to either get used to it or stop browsing the web altogether.

iPhone versus iPod Touch: What to buy

Sep 16th 2007 3:27PM (TUAW.com)
I fall into that category that doesn't have the luxury of having large carriers like ATT and T-mobile available. I'm stuck out here in the sticks with only horrible rural carriers like US Cellular, where even an unlocked iPhone is worthless. The Touch is the only option for me if I want any modicum of iPhone-like goodness in a PMP. As far as I (and I assume many people caught in a similar situation) am concerned this thing is a godsend. I'm already used to managing my content through playlists for daily use on my 8GB 2G Nano, so the storage thing is pretty much a non-issue for me. I preordered a 16GB the day they were announced and can't wait to get my hands on this thing.

10 things that Sort of Mildly Displease PC World about Apple (and why PC World thinks Apple is Doing Well)

May 7th 2007 4:22PM (TUAW.com)
If find it particularly interesting to see that Narasu collaborated on a "10 Things We Hate About Apple" piece considering she was formerly a senior editor at MacAddict. Or maybe not. I guess we all have things about Apple we dislike or would like to see improved.
