Rob Thomas knows digital marketing, wants in on Rock Band

Jul 10th 2009 1:06AM (Joystiq)
I know his probably isn't the "coolest" thing to say, but Rob Thomas in my opinion is one of the best pop artists of this current era. I bought "cradlesong" the day it came out and have had it on repeat every since. It's pop done right, good writing paired with catchy music. I would love to see him become part of Rock Band (Though they would have to be careful which songs they picked, some would definitely not translate well to the game)

I hope I'm not coming off as a PR guy for Thomas, I just know that his reputation with Matchbox 20 isn't the greatest and don't want to see this thread turn into a bash-a-thon.

The Pirate Bay retrial request denied

Jun 26th 2009 9:29PM (Joystiq)
What a sham, this would be like denying a retrial to someone convicted of a gun crime, even though you found out the judge was part of a anit-gun group.

Usually I can accept someone having a different opinion then mine on things, this is not one of them.

UK retailers lament PSP Go pre-orders, demand PSN cards

Jun 26th 2009 1:57PM (Joystiq)
The more I head about the PSP GO, the more I think this is going to be one of the biggest gaming screw ups in history.

First week sales are not going to pretty unless they cut the price.

Gearbox CEO wants Bungie & Infinity Ward to move beyond established brands

Maybe I'm naive, but I think people in the game industry generally want to see each other do well. They must know that the more quality titles that come out, the bigger they can grow the industry and prove that video games can be just as important and smart as movies.

These guys are still considered the bastard childs of the entertainment industry in the media (Just look at the news stories that were completely wrong and inaccurate about "controversial" game play in Mass Effect and GTA4).

It's the underdog mentality I bet that makes these guys root for each other to do well.

Activision: Singularity demo is 'absolutely critical'

Jun 17th 2009 2:23PM (Joystiq)
There really is no reason for a company to not release a demo before release. If you think your game is truly fantastic, then a demo should only help sales.

It's kind of similar to what movie studios do to movies. Most movies are pre-screened for critics, except for a select few that the studios know suck and just want to make a big first week profit on a unsuspecting audience.

Atomic Games' Peter Tamte says Six Days in Fallujah 'about two-thirds' complete

Jun 12th 2009 10:11PM (Joystiq)
Welcome to the Fox News web site at thefoxnation.com ("Site") which is owned by Fox News Network, L.L.C. (FOX). This Site is operated by FOX and materials on the Site are owned, for the most part, by FOX.

That's from their terms of use document.

Made a typo, meant "nude" not "new"

O give me a break, Fox News is hardly asking the tough questions. Did you see Hannity handle the recently fired Miss California with kid gloves, never asking her a tough question. "They fired me because of my views on gay marriage", No they fired you because you had new pictures on the internet (Which is forbidden in the pageant rules). The news media isn't do much better job with Obama, for whatever reason everyone is letting his "saved/created 150,000 jobs already" comment slide (Even thought there is no way to prove that number and he won't provide the info or formula that allowed him to calculate that number).

Both sides are full of crap, and if you think Fox News are the good guys you are just as bad as the far left.

I do agree with you Chuckj that MSNBC has a very strong lefty bias, but Fox News really goes a step too far. Go to Foxnation.com and tell me a MSNBC site that is anywhere near as bad as it (Seriously, I'm not a lefty or a righty and would like to find a liberal site that is just as nuts as Foxnation, the crazies on both sides are amusing).

Terminator: Salvation for PC recalled from front lines

May 20th 2009 4:57PM (Joystiq)
How the hell could this have gotten beyond testing? Once they started pumping out copies nobody thought they should pop in a disc or two to make sure it works?
