Feb 28th 2012 12:51PM (Joystiq)Beta participation, for example, is one of the strongest features of game development, as the product is tested en masse without having to actually pay for release (and the firestorm of bug fury that follows). I'd strongly encourage lowering the pricing tiers so that you can follow Steam's philosophy of profits: You make more money selling 10,000 $5 games then you do 1,000 $40 ones.
Humble Bundle Mojam makes nearly $500K for charity
Feb 21st 2012 5:36AM (Joystiq)Yeah, it totally SUCKS that they raised nearly $.5 million dollars, 100% towards charity. Gah, I just HATE helping other people, especially when they're starving and stuff! I demand better games for me to play on my flashy computer when I donate money to homeless orphans! COME ON!
...seriously?
Humble Bundle Mojam makes nearly $500K for charity
Feb 21st 2012 5:35AM (Joystiq)Seriously, man...you ALMOST gave $10 to charity, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?! God forbid you help starving children and whatnot.
Halo: Archetype fan-film teaser introduces the first Spartan
Feb 9th 2012 2:32AM (Joystiq)It's that the screenplay made just about zero sense...a Spartan running blindly through a desert shooting an assault rifle at an energy-shielded aircraft? Stopping completely because of a blast that was near him? What? I don't understand...is being stupid/slow supposed to look impressive? Maybe when Michael Bay does it (I disagree, still), but this didn't really strike me as true to the Halo idea of Spartans at all. Where's the cunning, bravery, intelligence, teamwork, and amazing weapons/hand-to-hand skills?
I know it's a teaser, don't get me wrong...I just probably wouldn't have led a teaser with a Spartan running mad through a Nevada desert. Some tight corridor action, some sick gunplay/fistfights...that would have really gotten me excited.
Again, I'll reemphasize how much I support these sorts of endeavors, and I really hope the final production blows me away!

Jan 27th 2012 4:57AM (Joystiq)But this is crazy expensive for a game that is often on sale for $2.50. You're looking at a price that is over ten times what many have payed for this game. =/
RIFT available on EA's Origin today
Jan 24th 2012 11:08AM (Massively)"Entitlements" are licensed rights granted, awarded, provided and/or purchased by you to access and/or use online or off-line elements or features of EA Services and/or products. Entitlements include but are not limited to paid and free downloadable content, unlockable content, digital and/or virtual assets, rights of use tied to unlock keys or codes, serial codes and/or online authentication of any kind, in-game achievements and virtual or fictional currency not otherwise governed by a Digital Services Agreement."
It has already happened to multiple users, but more importantly, the phrasing exists in the ToS for Origin to do whatever it wants with the consumer's rights to use keys, DLC codes, serial codes, and online authentication. Have you ever heard of Wal-Mart walking into your house and taking your microwave after you fully purchased it? How about Toyota coming to you 24-months after you've fully purchased a car and taking it back because you only kept it in your garage but didn't drive it?
Please don't make the assumption that those phrases made their way into the Terms of Service on accident, like someone didn't know what they were typing.
