Best Buy unleashes Insignia NS-BRDVD Blu-ray player for $349, PS3 yawns
May 24th 2008 4:00PM (Engadget)Honestly, if you buy intelligently, you can find a bunch of Blu Ray discs on Amazon for $20. I preordered Batman Begins from Amazon for - you guessed it - $20. And I also got 300 and Hellboy for $20. Granted, I bought my PS3 primarily as a gaming device, so I won't be one to buy a movie the millisecond it comes out, unless I can get it for a reasonable price.
Don't harp on the PS3's lack of games, because I sold my Wii to GET a PS3 for the same reason. At least Sony has slight 3rd party support. If anyone out there is on the fence about a PS3, there are enough good games that have come out in the past year and a half to tide you over until the heavy hitters come out, starting with Metal Gear Solid 4. Resistance: Fall of Man, Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, and not to mention the fact that Sony has some truly great niche games on the PSN, like PixelJunk Monsters and Echochrome. Make sure that you will play the games that are on the PS3, but if they strike your fancy, now is not a bad time to buy a PS3.
