I absolutely *loved* the demo. Lots of over-the-top awesomeness. I'm looking forward to playing this one. :)

Not fond of the new format. I *did* dig this episode, though. I love video game music. :)

"The Network"?

"The Target"? *worried*

I hope this isn't another multi-player shooter pretending to have a single-player campaign. *cough* Brink *cough*

Umm... I don't really get what the player did. Was anything that was done necessary for progressing through the level?

The Joystiq Show - 002: Unsung Games of E3 2011

I don't comment regularly but I was *compelled* to after I listened to the second episode of The Joystiq Show.

Guys... it's not working.

In an attempt to become more "professional" and "legitimate" as a video game podcast, you've killed the spark that made the show interesting. The quick audio edits to say the person's name that's talking (as used in Irrational Behavior and This American Life) are jarring and inelegant. The sound levels are uneven and the editing is not succinct enough to make this format work.

I must agree with the comments above in that the entire show just feels sterile, dry and uninteresting now. Case in point: Several times during the show jokes were made (at least I think they were) and what followed was about five seconds of silence, as if people weren't sure what to do. That uncomfortable feeling is tangible and it doesn't make for an enjoyable listening experience.

Also (and this is more personal), I always loved to hear Ludwig's opinions on the latest games. While I didn't always agree with him, I found his arguments articulate and compelling. That's completely gone here and I find myself at a loss as to why I would continue to listen to this.

*Sigh*

If you're dead-set on using the new This American Life format, the editing, speech and sound quality need to be MUCH improved. The snap-crackle-pop during skype/telephone interviews is unacceptable, as is the spots of dead air and lack of humor throughout. Also, I think putting out a good show consistently (once a week is the minimum) is more important that putting out a "Look how much editing we did. Isn't it cool?" podcast. Just my two cents.

And I STILL don't know what Luddy and Justin think of L.A.Noire, Hunted:The Demon's Forge, Red Faction: Armageddon, InFamous 2, Duke Nukem Forever and Alice:Madness Returns.

Xbox 360 Fancast 212 -- Sorry, We're Closed

May 16th 2011 8:00PM (Joystiq)
This is so sad. (Shhhh.... Don't tell anyone, but I liked your podcast more than The Joystiq Podcast.) I hope (with the new structure) that there will still be two podcasts a week (though I believe that they're both being boiled into 'The Joystiq Show' which will be once a week. *sigh* This is a sad day indeed.

Now I reluctantly listen to the last episode... :(
