Slavery the Game isn't a real game, is a real website, is really uncool

@Malvicus

"Race relations today is still subject of discussion."

Unless that discussion takes place in a video game, apparently.

I got to play this demo at PAX, and it was absolutely fantastic. Great artistic direction and outstanding puzzle design. Some very clever levels with some fantastic "ah-ha!" moments. If you like puzzle games at all, you will want to keep an eye out for this one. Trust me.

@Nicker600 Now I'm getting "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation(R)Network. (80710092)"

They can't even fix their own disasters right. People complained about the RROD (myself included), but at least I was able to get my 360 sent in and replaced faster than it's taken them to fix the PSN.

@Dizazter It's a great word. People make portmanteaus all the time without even realizing what they are (see, e.g., "brunch," "blog," "tweeps").

@hiruuamon Actually, KOTOR2 was stronger than KOTOR in a lot of ways -- especially the writing. Kreia is still probably the most well-written character in videogames. Ever.

@MakeThemListen Hey, I'm not knocking it; I loved it too. Like I said, it got worse treatment than it deserved. It wasn't perfect -- there were certainly some flaws in the gameplay -- but it was definitely worth playing, especially for those who care primarily about good story (and who like the spy genre).

Alpha Protocol, like most of Obsidian's games, was a game that tried to do a lot of really cool things on the story and plot side but ran out of time in development to get the polish right. They tried to do so many things with that game that they didn't get anything perfect. (See also KOTOR2, especially the last 10% or so.)

They came pretty close with the way the story unfolded in AP, though, and the way interaction with characters had the potential to affect the way the game played out so dramatically. In a world of sane game ratings, it'd have been a 6 or a 7 out of 10. Probably about 3 stars. It certainly wasn't perfect, but it definitely got worse treatment than it deserved.

@MakeThemListen Why on earth would you think Firefly was "great" if its lead character was played by a terrible actor?

Nathan Fillion is at his best when he's firing off snarky witticisms (which is why he'd be such a good choice for Drake, incidentally), but he showed a lot of range as Mal. Brooding, righteously angry, indignant, indifferent, reluctant, compassionate, cruel, arrogant, broken... If you really watched all of Firefly, you saw a LOT of top-notch acting from that man.
