@tendoboy1984 The reason people compare it to a subsidized phone is because it has way more power than your typical smartphone, and it will have a built in 3G radio. I can see sony doing something like partnering with cell providers to bring the cost down if you sign a dumb 2yr contract just like a tablet like Ipad, or Galaxy tab etc. the reason for the comparison is because of the 3G radio. But for people who dont want to sign a dumb 2yr contract you can just buy it without. they did mention different sku's meaning they could very well make a non 3G one for a lower price just like the Ipad.

Honestly I think everyone is sooo far off. and call me crazy for saying this but I can imagine this being about $600+ but hear me out. this thing has everything a cell phone has and then some and cell phones OFF contract cost about $550 + give or take. and the specs on this thing exceed what any other cell phone on the market now has. and sony has already said they will not take a loss on the product. So with all these factors out there I can see them charging $600+ just for the unit alone or seeing as in it has a 3g radio built in any cell provider can also sell them at a subsidized price like say $299 or $399 and thats not a far off point seeing as in we now have subsidized tablets and etc. now the problem remains is if they do this For the love of god please dont put it on ATT Only, Please make it so each carrier has its own version like put a cdma radio in it so verizon or sprint can carry it as well please dont pull an apple.
