#26 hit the nail exactly on the head. Microsoft is just looking to create a bigger difference in price between the PS3 as it can, especially in perception. $249.99 suddenly looks like $200 as opposed to the current core price of $299.99 that looks like $300. $50 difference either way, but the perception of the consumer makes it looks like much more.
I'm sure they have something up their sleeve as well. My only point is that whatever they have up their sleever for the NEAR FUTURE most likely will not be the next-gen iteration of the GTA franchise.
I'm really hoping that they go completely cross-platform with the PS3 and Xbox 360, but I doubt it.
I agree that not much marketing effort would NEED to be done to sell millions of copies of GTA. That said, companies ALWAYS prepare a long marketing campaign for their AAA titles. So, the fact that they do not have any significant floor space at E3 pretty much tells us what the article states, no GTA for awhile.
Wow, that was a really cool video. I don't know how many previews and articles I have read singing the praises of the new screen and it's brightness, but I wasn't really prepared for what I saw. I am in awe for sure.
That is my biggest complaint with the current DS. Any ambient light makes it very difficult to see the screen, not to mention the issues of angling the DS just right for optimum view of BOTH screens, upper and lower.
I believe these new screens and their brightness will take care of the ambient light and dual screen issues.
Another gripe of mine with the original DS was how large it is, and especially how much hand fatigue you get with games like Mario Kart DS. Now I can't say for sure since I don't have one yet, but I would assume that the slimmer design and smaller form factor are going to improve the hand fatigue issue that you get with the original DS.
Cannot wait to get mine. If Lik-Sang can ever get their hands on some units, I will be getting my grubby little hands on one as well.
Thats fine and all, but it still doesn't make right the way they marketed the sale of the DS-lite all throughout the web and especially their website.
Do a Google search on DS-lite, and Lik-Sang is what comes up first. They have been advertising the hell out of this thing, and advertising just as much that the units would ship out on 3/2.
NEVER did they even put an asterisk or warning that supplies might be limited, or price might be subject to change due to demand. You would have to be an idiot not to have expected what has happened regarding the initial demand of the DS-lite.
You can say all you want that it's not Lik-Sangs fault that Hong Kong middlemen are holding them up for more money. I couldn't disagree more, mainly because of how Lik-Sang has advertised the hell out of this, listed immediate shipping, and kept taking pre-orders I'm sure all the way up through yesterday night showing delivery to be when product arrive 3/2.
Are they committing fraud. By it's legal definition, probably not. Have they tried to conn people, bait and swich, and used false advertising, YOU BET THEY DID!
I think we all know at this point that you will get a scratched DVD if you try to move the 360 from a vertical to horizontal position while the unit is running. However, it has been proven that there is an undetermined amount of 360 consoles that will still scratch DVD's while in the vertical position, this all being done without moving the console at all.
These types of things are par for the course mind you on first production run units. Still unfortunate though.

Apr 20th 2006 8:20PM (Joystiq)Also, HD-DVD for $100? I'm in, as long as I can be reasonably sold on the fact that HD-DVD isn't going to be going away anytime soon.
Good news if true.

DS Lite sells out quickly in Japan [update 1]
Mar 2nd 2006 11:01AM (Joystiq)Basically what they did is they saw the frenzy of buyers for the DS in Japan, and saw an opportunity to rape all of their customers for more money.
This Joystiq article does nothing but confirm why Lik-Sang is doing what they are doing.
They are a bunch of frauds and I will NEVER do business with them again.
