I actually don't read any of the Joystiq branches--just this main site. I'm glad they post this stuff here. :)
It's funny how much useless criticism Joystiq receives when they're not, y'know, forcing us to read their pages. If you don't like how they do things, you'd think you'd learn how to just avoid the place altogether. :)
Well, this just gives Nintendo a chance to knock our socks off with some super cool final logo. :D
They need a logo that EVERYONE can "get". Most people, like you showed us, can look at that and not understand why they designed it that way. Most people wouldn't understand that it's showing it can play two formats. Since this is a system aimed at "everyone", including non-gamers, then I agree with you that they need something different. Something attractive for everyone. :)
If I remember correctly, the guy they interviewed says that chump points are given out only if the system is powered off. So disconnecting won't be a problem. People with bad connections are safe. (Although, I really don't look forward to playing with people who have bad connections...)
I'm Mormon (or LDS, whichever you prefer to call it), and I'm proud of it. And Kishkumen is right, there are a LOT of people here in Utah who aren't Mormon. It always surprised me at first when people think all Utahns are Mormons.
Just because something is related to Utah doesn't mean you instantly have to think of Mormons.
But yeah, I'm not really offended. I hear Mormon jokes all the time and find most of them funny. However, let's just keep an open mind here and keep Mormons out of this "games as porn bill" thing, okay? The bill didn't pass, so we can all go back to playing games in peace for now.
Oh dear Lord... A ripoff of Kameo? Lemme guess, you're 12? 11? Am I close? Whatever, doesn't matter.
Zelda has been around for 20 years. It is not, nor has it ever been a ripoff of Kameo. Rare used to work as a second party for Nintendo, so a lot of their talent and skills were developed under Nintendo's watchful eyes. Even reviewers notice that Kameo's style is reminiscent of Nintendo's, because Rare used to work for them.
Anyhoo...moving on. Nintendo says that this will be the last Zelda game as we know it. Can't we just let them perfect it? Do we need to get upset? Yeah, I'll admit, I was upset from the first delay, but it's understandable. They're not doing it just to be jerks, they're doing it to make their property the best it can be. Handhelds aside, if this truly is the last Zelda as we know it, then I can wait for them to make it the best Zelda to this point.
Actually, Deuce, Ganondorf transformed into Ganon at the end of Ocarina of Time, the first Zelda game for the N64. In fact, the exact thing you mentioned, Ganondorf the thief turning into Ganon, is what happens in Ocarina of Time. Ocarina of Time is supposedly the first Zelda game in the Zelda timeline.
If you haven't played it, I recommend picking up a version of it and playing it right now.
