What about the file size? Q3A + Team Arena was well over 1GB when installed, so I'm curious as to how well they're going to compress everything. The last thing I want to see is all low-res textures at 1080p.
I'm looking to buy a PS2, and I noticed that both versions of the PS2 (slim & fat) are both more expensive than the usual, B&M price for a new PS2. Even EBGameStop charges only $110 for a used PS2 ($100 for the fat, $110 for the slim). That, for me, is just a ripoff.
As to why they're putting a sequel out so quick: I'd be really surprised if this had a new engine. That's a full half to three-quarters of the dev time right there (the levels, art, etc don't really come together til the last few weeks). So they get/make the engine, and then can just crank out content every year, hopefully improving on it.
It was playable on the show floor on Saturday, and all I can really comment on is the controls, which seemed to be pretty worked out and not very touchy. Sadly, soon after I started playing it (the PS3 version), the PS3 locked up from overheating :-P.
OK, sorry I'm #2 again. Just go to the website my name links to. I forgot that the email isn't shown to the public (and I can't read the obvious either).
I've got to say, this sounds AWESOME. A-W-E-S-O-M-E.
I live right across the Hudson River from the city, and I'll be going in Saturday for an 8-bit concert anyway. This sounds like a good way to start things off.
Hit up my email if you want more info about 8bit.
Ever see a guy rock out with a GameBoy? The original gray brick GameBoy? That's 8bit.
