Its a small point, but I feel the global aspect of the internet is at work here: Gypsy is a very (funny) deragotory word here. To call someone a Gyppo is pretty bad, and consequently you very rarely hear the word gyp to mean rip-off here. But it's obvious what Joystiq meant :)
This is a really odd decision. With Dolby Pro Logic II support, it means devleopers ARE developing games with surround sound in mind. Pro Logic II tries to simulate surround sound with only two channels, but internally in the Wii, all the surround sound information must exist to create the Pro Logic II soundtrack. It would be super easy for Nintendo to break this down into Dolby Digital information rather than PLII. And it can't be a cost issue because this sort of tech is old hat now, and any cheap DVD player or PC motherboard has an optical out.
Maybe Nintendo will save money on licensing? I'm sure MSoft and Sony have to pay Dolby for every console they sell with DD capabilities. PLII can be implemented without special audio-out hardware.
BTW if anyone is not convinced DD is better than PLII, you just need to look at what the two technologies are. DD5.1 is literally 5 dedicated channels, with a less detailed bass track. Sure, it's compressed, but the bitrate is usally high enough to sound good, and of course the advantage is five discrete channels for surround sound that isn't muddled. PLII is just two channels of sound, with background tracks mixed in a special way so it comes more out the back than front, but often producs a hint of garbled noise (if you ever hold your ear to the rear speakers of a PLII system turned up too loud, you'll notice it).
I think asking for the pay details beforehand is certainly a legitimate question if this is legitimate employment... You are asking for a lot upfront from these candidates, and it certainly wouldn't be worth the hassle if you only offer 15c a post or something silly like that.
I've been playing the original Street Fighter II via MAME with a Xbox 360 wired USB joypad lately- I'm pretty disappointed with the experience as the stick doesn't feel right, and the 360 d-pad just isn't up to the task. It's made me think twice about getting it tbh- do I really need another version of SF2 when I have like 10 for other systems... Online is cool, but we've been able to haduken via Live since 2003. Guess for once I'll hang back and see what people are saying once it's out :)
There is no legal British TV torrent site*. He's probably talking about www.uknova.com
(*The BBC and Sky have a couple of things that are kinda like it, but the content is severely limited, and not officially distributed by bittorrent, but it's definitely P23)

Sep 30th 2006 9:08AM (Joystiq)As for optimal age, I think mine was around 15/16... altho I've put about 10 hours into DOOM on XBLA which is unusual for me... (26 now)
Just more evidence gaming was really better in the past! When the good stuff hits, we all make time to play :)
