Games shipping this week

Kamalot: I can only find one review of Deep Labyrinth, they give it 40%. It's converted from a mobile phone game, not a good sign.

BioWare defines mass effect

What a lot of words to say "it's an uncountable noun".

Ubisoft reveals seven Wii launch titles, including Far Cry [update 2]

Blazing Angles? Is that some kind of trigonometry teaching game?

Saint's Row demo carjacks Xbox Live Marketplace

9: Freespace 1+2 were (IMHO) the best space dogfighting games ever made. Great single player campaign and storyline, capital ships with huge beam weapons and a general very high level of polish.

12: From the reviews I've read, Eve online is not much like Freespace

Please please please please make Freespace 3! Hell, I'd buy an Xbox 360 just for that and I consider Bill Gates to be the spawn of Satan.

Full list of Wii specs ... allegedly

Jul 31st 2006 7:28AM (Joystiq)
Those specs do seem relatively logical: with some technical changes and a 1.5x increase is clock speed, you would probably get the "2-3x the power of the gamecube" we've heard elsewhere.

That's still pretty powerful - 24-48 million polygons/second on a device that only needs to push 12(24 in progressive) million pixels/second at maximum. I would like to see more than 64Mb memory so that games like Metroid prime don't have to put so many doors and lifts in to hide loading times.

Personally, I thought a lot of gamecube games had fantastic graphics, anyway.

Relive 15 years of Sonic in 5 minutes

26 - you must never have played Sonic Adventure 2. A few excellent, fast Sonic levels mixed in with endless, slow "find the hidden gems" Knuckles levels.

Nintendo DS Lite cracks on hinge

Jul 17th 2006 11:22AM (Joystiq)
No cracks here, but the DS Lite hinge does feel quite flimsy compared to the original. I don't think that the plastic is actually holding the top part in place, though, so it should just be a cosmetic problem.

Epic's Mark Rein: Intel is killing PC Gaming

Jul 12th 2006 9:13AM (Joystiq)
What a tool. Most users don't care about 3D graphics, so they buy computers with cheaper graphics cards. A decent graphics card is going to cost 20-40% of the entire price of most PCs. He can't blame Intel for providing what the market wants. Why doesn't he go produce some games good enough that "average" consumers want to buy the hardware to play them.
I think for many gamers beyond the Popcap type, a games console is all they want or need anyway.

Stupidly simple games degree exam paper is very real

Artimus:
Welcome to any university multiple choice exam...

Wow, where did you go to uni that had exams that easy? I had a few multiple choice exams at uni, nothing even close to that simple, even during first year introductory courses.
