Wow, someone seems to have stolen all the punctuation keys on that fanboy's keyboard.

D(S)-Day: DS Lite storms European retailers

kronholm - Nintendo seems to slowly increasing their advertising in Europe. In the UK, I've been seeing a lot more TV adverts for the DS and Touch Generations. They sponsor a lot of shows on channel 4 as well, mostly 'alternative' comedy. They're weird adverts, things like live action Phoenix Wright or Nintendogs acted out with a toy dog.

According to Gamespot it was a fairly quiet launch in the UK:

Because, of course, "...the demographic of the DS is very much focused on kids..." according to GAME. Does anyone know any sales data on DS Fat/Lite and PSP in the UK? I get the feeling the PSP is in front here.

Agreed on the fingerprint thing: mine was covered in fingerprints in minutes. A fantastic handheld, though, it's amazing how dark the old DS seems now.

Used video game stores screwing the little guy?

Isn't the advantage of trade-in that it requires virtually no effort, risk or outlay - you give them the game, they give you £5 or whatever. I've never done it, but I can see why people would.

As for the resale price, you can get some pretty good deals, and it's basically exactly the same product: it's not like the Koopas will be too tired out to play second time round.

Looks like 7 or 8 games worth buying at launch for the Wii, that's pretty good if the list is correct.

Jay: European GCs are 576i, IIRC, as they are PAL. You can also get much better output out of it than S-Video with the RGB SCART cable.

Sony expects gamers to "Play Beyond" $599 [update1]

82: I see, so because a game is in higher resolution it's more fun. OK, I'll try to remember that in future.

@cyrix_0

Personally, I'm comparing with the Wii, so that's (most likely) a $400 price difference.

I'm pretty much part of Sony's target market (27, gamer since 8, reasonable disposable income, own a PS2). I just can't see what that $400 gives me. It's still the same poor controller, I didn't see any memorable games in the E3 coverage, I won't really care about Blu-ray for 5 years or so. $400 is 10-15 games for my PS2/GC/DS or Wii when I buy it.

@Ivan_PSP

I'm happy that you are so rich that $600 (£425 for me) is so little money to you. For the majority of us with rent, student loans, house repairs etc. to pay, it's a lot of money that I would rather spend on many other things.
Apart from anything else, the price of the console is pure overhead, I'd rather spend the money on games.
